Francisco Palacios (20-1, 13 KO) is convinced that he did more than enough to lift the WBC cruiserweight This content is protected title from champion Krzysztof Włodarczyk (45-2-1, 32 KO). The fight ended in a split decision loss, with the champion retaining his title on Saturday night Poland. Palacios is placing some of the blame on himself, stating that he made the mistake of allowing the fight to go to the scorecards." I am convinced that i won the fight, for sure i did more than "Diablo" and hit him more times than he hit me.In my opinion i lost no more than three of the twelve rounds. But i should had never left the decision in the hands of the judges.Ishould have closed the fight ahead of time." I am convinced that if the fight took place in Puerto Rico or in a neutral site-I'd would have won it", Palacios said
He couldn't, he had 10-12 rounds to figure that out and now he is regretting it? What a dumbass mofo!!
Like he didn't know that going in ? The guy he fought had his name on the ring and the rope padding did he really believe he would get a decision from more than one judge in Poland ? He did get fukcin robbed like Brinks in 1981. 118-112 9 rounds to 3 for Wlod was the sickest score I have ever heard considering Wlod landed about 15 punches the entire fight.
That was robbery for sure, but as everyone knows, you leave a fight in the hands of hometown judges and you can pretty much rest assured that you lose that fight.
Well it would be nice if robbery wasn't the EXPECTED outcome every time a fight went to the cards. This is for the WBC title, for christsakes. Be less cynical boxing fans--Palacios is a human being that deserved the W.
Would love to be less cynical but one cannot ignore the facts. The judges are human beings too and many get caught up in their own personal reasons for bad judging. These athletes sacrifice a lot during training and in fact throughout their entire careers. They deserve to have their efforts in the ring judged honestly no matter where the fight is held.
I'm not sure he could have knocked Wlodarczyk out if he tried. He did plenty to win a decision, but got robbed. There's no point saying should've could've would've about something he couldn't and wouldn't have done. Between Diablo's chin, his tight guard, the lack of openings he gave due to his inactivity (a big part of why he should have lost a decision), and Francisco's seeming lack of pop and slapping style...it's very doubtful he could have taken it out of the judges' hands.
