Has anyone else seen this? I thought it was nice for ESPN to dedicate 90 minutes to one of the more under-appreciated talents of the 90s. Loved watching footage of his professional debut. I have no idea who he was fighting but Whitaker looked outstanding, on a different level to the prospects we have around today. If you haven't seen it, I can try and upload it.
It was a pretty awesome episode wasn't it i love how in all the ringside episodes the quality is beautiful they even showed some of Pernell's amateur fights which i've never seen before
Indeed. I hope ESPN do more of these episodes with fighters from the 90s. They even got buddy McGirt in to talk about the great one. Nice touch.
I've seen his pro-debut. If I remember correctly I noticed from watching his later fights that his style was almost fully developed at those early stages. He just fine-tuned it over the years. A very mature young fighter!
