Haye has a very live chance of winning the event here if he stuns Wladimir in surprising fashion. If Haye does a fantastic Judah-esque chicken dance to entertain the crowd then he could also come out as the winner of the event. It all comes down to how badly either fighter wants it... they have to choose between whether they want to win the fight or the event.
Haye will KO WALDO, and he'll win the event too, as the Krauts will boo WALDO out of the ring. I suspect that VITLAY will attack Haye like a ***** after he sees the ownage of his brother and he'll lose another event too despite not being in the actual fight.
But does KOing Haye encapsulate taking the event? Pete's impeccable analysis accounts for ambiguity following such a spectacle.
It could very well be a fight with no event. Not all fights have events, but events exist in boxing. :deal KOing Haye doesn't in and of itself warrant Haye an EVT win. Otherwise any fighter who gets KOed would always win an event. Haye does something spectacular and excited (Like an unusual or sustained chicken dance. IE. Judah EVT Tszyu... although this very well could be debunked as any fighter with rat tails can't lose an EVT. A ruling that's not yet been officially confirmed by the Main Event Mafia) in order to please the crowd then he can take the event. It's the case of the rare flash EVT win, which Haye fell victim to when he lost to Enzo. Fighters can also take the EVT by taking a sustained beating for the entertainment of the crowd (Williard over Dempsey), or going down heroically (While ahead) and sacrificing the fight in order to please the crowd and win the EVT (Solis EVT Vitali). I imagine Haye can most likely win the EVT by getting disqualified or robbed from rabbit punches while having Wlad in serious trouble. He could win the EVT through a flash EVT win but that's rare.
