Fana will fight his mando Argenis Mendez (who is trained by Lee Beard) in June.

Martinez is fighting an eliminator for Burns' belt on the JuanMa-Salido card (April 16th). The winner of that should be read for July/August time :yep

Really like Burns, hope he fights better opposition though as when your champion there shouldn't be a streak of easy fights. I can understand one easy fight every so often if you go on a run of fighting good level opposition.

I'd like a rematch with Martinez.

Burns would beat him convincingly again and he's a credible opponent.

No more area level opponents like Laryea or game but tiny Evensens.

How is Lee Beard still getting fighters anyway..... watch this Mendez come in at about 145 or something :hey

Looking at the WBO rankings, Martinez is at 3 and his opponent Luis Cruz is at 5 so not sure if it's a final eliminator or just an eliminator.

The top 2 are Terdsak and Eloy Perez - both acceptable opponents.

I didn't think FW would want to make the fight. He complained that only 3,000 of 4,000 tickets were sold for Ricky's last fight. However, at 50 quid a pop who can blame the fans? I personally don't think I would pay 50quid to go and watch a Burns show again unless it was against the likes of Fana. A Frank Warren show typically is full of one sided mismatches and the last show was no different. The "home" fighter won every single fight.

I don't grudge Ricky the pay day and Frank is a good promoter as his job is to do right by his fighter- that means making him as much money as possible. Being a "world champion" doesnt guarantee you riches. Look at the ikes of Duke MacKenzie etc who won world titles but made very little from boxing. Ricky should look to pay off his m,ortgae first and I don't grudge him poorer quality opposition- I just wont pay to see it anymore.

If I was FW I wouldnt rush Ricky into an overly competetive fight until he was forced to.
