In a thread posted here where pacquiao was drinking his protein shake right after an ultra-heavy meal, Klitschko's Nutritionist who posts
here in ESB reacted that it will just be a waste of protein since Manny has already stuffed himself with meat and rice.

    Here is Alex Ariza's response:

Sounds very convincing, but until I see some form of scientific consensus through published academic papers regarding controlled studies on this matter I'm not going to form a particularly strong opinion on the subject based on what two people say that we barely know anything about.

I'm sure both know more than I will ever know about nutrition, but working in the science field, I know that it is very naive to take an argument as fact merely because it is eloquently presented.

They're probably both right, honestly. Ariza just gives Pacquiao additional protein to ensure that his body has enough, though it's probably not necessary. What CHEF was saying was, if a person has got enough protein from their meal, they don't need any extra, which is also true. Whether Pacquiao has got enough protein or not though is the issue.

I see no reason why a top level athlete shouldn't have too much protein. There really isn't any negative to it, as long as you don't have stupid amounts.

CHEF vs Ariza, let's bring it on :bbb

I say Chef is doing a better job, Wlad and Vitali are a lot bigger and stronger as Pac :bart
    That's a valid conclusion :good

They just want him to stay constantly in a metabolic state and keep him from going into a catabolic state. If that happens the body will turn on itself and start leaching nutrients and other things like protien and carbs. Manny runs alot on top of all his sparring, bag work, pad work, etc. That drains u dry. You need to be refueled often and refueled substantially.

Why did he feel the need to respond? Chef acknowledged in that thread that it would make sense if he needed more protein.

I don't understand why some posters calls ESB a commuinity for stupid and biased people. The quote above clearly shows that ESB is the place to go for enlightment.

Recently there was another thread that explained why Floyds head has grown, which i found very clearifing, since it had troubled my night sleep a lot.

ESB is simply a Mecka for relevant knowledge about the sport of boxing.

Very well stated. The human body can consume as much protein as it wants wihtout negative effects as long as it is in a metabolic state to burn off the excess calories that are consumed with the protein. There is no real right or wrong answer to whether or not a person needs that much protein. It all depends on the person and how much physical activity they are doing to require that amount. Judging by what I have seen and heard about Manny's workouts, I'd say a protein shake after a meal is justifiable.

Manny probably farts quite a lot with that protein intake.
