Arum Never wanted to Pay Floyd the money for those fights. He said, out of his own mouth, that Floyd wanted 10 million dollar guarantees for Cotto and Margo, but Arum (again, in his own words) refused.

Looking back, 10 million for those fights seems like chump change, considering he can demand upwards of 20 million for those fights right now.

Arum made a big mistake letting Floyd go. He did not think he would be a big star on his own, and this has surely proven not to be the case. And Arum, known for being spiteful, will not let any of his fighters (Cotto and Pac especially) fight Mayweather.

Now, if Mayweather signed up with Top Rank for a 3 fight deal, then you better believe that Pac-Floyd gets made instantly. Arum would also have no issue feeding Cotto and Margo to him as well.

Floyd did exactly what he meant to do by stating that. Keep the topic of PEDS in boxing discussed. Only he expected people to get behind better testing not dismiss the idea as a method of ducking. Seems he underestimated Pac/Arum's influence on the media being the 'good guys'.

 

Dude, Floyd hasn't done ANYTHING. He could have done WAY more to this so called cause. Could have helped organize some group to look into better testing. Could have refused to work with any ABC that doesn't agree to what he thinks is better for the sport. Refuse to fight in states unless they at least take into consideration implementing more tests. Floyd had the star power and pull to do something. Had the right promoter too in GBP who is in bed with HBO. But he hasn't done jack ****. All he did was make vague accusation on Pac and PED's.

 

Well, he did refuse to face Pac unless OSDT was done, which would have been the biggest fight in history. But how can you clean up with sport by yourself? Surely Manny could have helped set an example and done the testing, since he is clean and all....

But if a high profile opponent doesnt go along with it, what more can one do? Go to each of the athletic commissions and pay for them to upgrade to OSDT??

The only thing he can do is lead by example, which by calling for OSDT for all his fights, is something he is doing.

And if the biggest fight ever fell apart over one person not doing it, what else does the world need? People have been caught giving fake urine samples and caught with Banned substances, and still the commissions do nothing.

He HAS to say that. You cannot make a demand, decline to budge on it, and then NOT go with it for the next fight. Floyd put himself into a position that any fight, even if not against Pac, he MUST use the testing he begged for.

If the NSAC does implement it, then that's good.

Why didn't he have JMM do the tests? Or Oscar De la Hoya? Ricky Hatton? ALL high profile fights.

You want to know what he can do? I listed options, like refusing to fight for a sanctioning body or state commision where it's not used. That is making a statement and would show he's serious about it and NOT just using it to avoid Pac.
