What if McCloskey can time shots like these...

Seeing how Maidana, after surviving an early storm, managed to time Khans jabs with overhand rights, what if McCloskey manages to time Khan with shots like the one he lands at 7.00 minutes into this video?

I think this is part of Breen and Magees strategy for McCloskey

There's such a gulf in class between Lynes and Khan. Khan is so much stronger and faster. If McCloskey doesn't fold early he can make a fight of this but im still not sure about his chin.

I have read so many threads now on how McCloskey can beat Khan and its possible but VERY unlikely!

Khan does not get enough credit for what he does! His speed will always be the key in any fight and he has shown a massive lift in power from his early days! And as Iceman has said i can see McCloskey folding early!

Khan for me is no1 in this division followed by Miadana and im sorry to say it McCloskey is just another warm up fight!

The same thing happened the Audley and Haye! That was always a joke fight but Haye haters built Audley up to some thing he wasn't and look what happened there.

Sorry this fight is just the same! It wont go past 6 rounds and thats being nice.

Khan is soon to be joining the elite fighters when he beats Bradley and moves to 147 which will be a better weight for him and McCloskey is no were near that!

Can McCloskey be a world champion?

    YES

Put him in with the likes of Alexander and he will do fine and we will see another world champion just not Khan.

Khan’s approach will be completely different to the one he used in the Maidana fight - where he was cautious/nervous in having to deal with an aggressive guy who could knock him out at any moment.

But against McCloskey, he’ll be brimming full of confidence and fighting at a pace that he’s really comfortable at. He’ll have a field day if McCloskey continues to keep his hands low.

The gulf in class between Amir Khan and Colin Lynes is enormous. It's easy to look good against average opposition.

I think Khan has a better decision making process than that, but by the same token, I believe he still makes mistakes, which is why I reckon McCloskey will land some nice counters on him, but I think given that he's not a huge puncher, he's running the risk of allowing Khan to outwork him by slowing the tempo down relying on counters that might not come his way, even if they do come, who's to say he hurts him significantly enough with his single shots, to change the complexion of the fight?

Khan is open to fighters who punch with him though imo, as Maidana showed timing right hands in between his shots.

Thats a massive stretch, I don't see paul winning a world belt at 140 anytime soon. You contradict yourself in this post as well. You compare this fight to haye-audrey and say it's a joke fight but then go and say he can be a world champion :huh

So timing a khan jab with a counter uppercut is harder than timing a khan jab with an overhand right? listen, notice how I said "after maidana weathered an early storm.." I realise that there is a ****ing gulf between lynes and khan, but if mccloskey can withstand the early assault (where I am fully aware he is most vulnerable and where I worry about him) and land SHOTS (plural) like these then I think he shocks a lot of people including khan.

how about the gulf in countering speed between maidana and mccloskey?

I'm pointing out how mccloskey can pull off sharp counters faster than people think, im not comparing the entire lynes fight to how mccloskey can beat khan...

and khan isnt the only guy brimming with confidence, mccloskey has a strength and conditioning coach which he has never had the luxury of before, and he looks in the best shape of his life and punching harder than ever.

people comparing the khan mccloskey fight khan salita need to note only ONE thing.. Salita was terrified of the khan fight, McCloskey is relishing it, and has been asking for it for years. dont confuse me with my avatar, I aint no blind irish fanboy, ive critisized my fair share of irish "prospects" in the past, including mccloskey himself, but be prepared to be shocked at pauls performance.

i actually think the circumstances are right for an upset. first khan has trouble with his camp and fires ariza, who has to take credit for khan's improved punch resistance. then the whole event seems to be falling apart, there's arguments about money and he seems to be looking towards the next fight with bradley. although i really don't think mcloskey in the same league, but you never know
