You'd think so, with all JT's skills, L. But he hasn't the patience. Has no idea why boxers can't do what instructions he's shouting during sparring. What James does is natural. Has no idea howta teach it.
Current: Hopkins, JMM, Mayweather (but his fighters would duck:rofl), Cotto, Tarver... Retired: SRL, Lewis, Calzaghe (believe it or not), DLH,
I thought DLH too, but since its so unlikely I didn't bother, but I could really see him being a great trainer. Him and Tarver, they have the skills and experience and the main thing is they have the personality for it unlike others who are more skilled but just wouldn't be good trainers. Also Jason Lehoullier, though he's a top domestic level and not world class yet. He will make a great trainer, he has helped me in the gym loads. I was out of the gym for a few months and my coach wanted me to spar a kid who'd been training his ass off so I was a little nervous at first, but I Jason helped relax me, and told me to flick a jab at his body then come up the top with a straight right and in the 2nd round I knocked the guy out . It's those kind of guys who can push you, but more importantly make you believe in your self.
It's very hard to predict who would be a great trainer. A boxer like Hopkins may have all the knowledge but that's only half the story. You need to be able to teach those skills and techniques as well as know them.
JMM.. He is clever, able and humle. Would be smart enough to teach and patient enough to do so. I can't see lennox having the drive, but he would be good if he did. How many great boxers make great coaches though? Not many. Average boxers do much better as their goals and ego's are still unfilled.
Correct, as much as I admire Hopkins as a fighter, he'd be another Floyd Snr in the training stakes, all about himself.
