Just watching Toney/Holyfield and the way he rolls the shoulder and picks his shots is a sight to behold. Hes the best infighter ive ever seen. In his prime when hes in great shape and motivated hes at least at 50/50 shot with any middlweight EVER. He gives Hagler , Monzon and any other fighter HELL. Sorry forb the rant

Watching Toney vs Barkley is art, it should be displayed in art galleries.

Toney vs McCallum 1&2 were also great technical fights

And your right, he would pose a threat to every MW and even SMW

I loved watching Toney fight. It's too bad he didn't have the discipline to stay at a weight class he belonged in

Toney's skill set was second to none. Prime Toney gives any ATG the fight of their life. Even old, past it, fat, injured Toney can still hold his own at heavy weight.

His signature counter right hand was among the best in the sport.

The man can hit and not get hit , and can fight in the pocket for 3 minutes.

It sounds crazy , but I think if he had less talent , he would have had to work harder on his fitness and would have had a better career.

    toney vs barkley
    toney vs sam peter 1
    toney vs jivrov

james toney is a best, if there was anyfighter i could fight like it would be him.he has a chin and his head movment and shoulder rolls is on another level.master boxer at the the very least.had he been a gym rat and stayed in the best shape possible he would have done more.

Great fighter and wonderful to watch skill-wise. People always say "if he could've been more dedicated...." well he still became a champ in 3 weight classes(arguably 4 as the Rahman fights easily could've gone to him and the first was for the title), beat a prime Nunn, beat a crafty Mccallum, and is an ATG so that's still impressive. He gets in the Hall no question.

Speaking of the Holyfield win, he beat an older but still good ATG at Holy's weight while Toney 1st moved up to heavyweight. Again, pretty impressive. Enjoyable clinic to watch and Toney was the underdog yet rose to the occassion to win. Toney is also the last guy to stop Holyfield which his last opponents from post-Toney to 2010 couldn't achieve. Arguably Williams should've got the TKO but that's a discussion for another time.

Gotta give it up for a prime James Toney... One of the best pure talents ever.

Kinda sad to see him now making a mockery of his former greatness.

Maybe someone could chime in here, I remember hearing a story about how Toney was famous for going into boxing gyms and challenging any fighter in the house, HW's included...If I remember correctly, he claimed to never have been bested...

I don't remember where I heard that, does anyone know if that's even true? I don't remember doubting it at the time...
