Ive Been a strong believer that katsidies should have gone with a more technichal more renowned trainer/manager agez ago, his current trainer brendan smith has done well but aint gettin the job done ! good fighter same mistakes.. picking the wrong oppents.. bad management, good thing about katsidies he is always in shape and comes to fight..but sumtin is wrong i reckon smith...due 4 a change

Absolutely agree. Smith gets him in shape ... But not much else.

His corner advice in the casamayor fight to attack was baffling being that katsidis was taking over.

Katsidis listens too .. He follows the advice good or bad

A new trainer is essential if he wants to prolong his career at this point. He is in danger of becoming an exciting, but shopworn gatekeeper used to showcase upcoming talent against

He's lost his 4 most significant fights at world level , barring the Casamayor fight he was beaten soundly in the end , in all 3 .

Yes he had success against Marquez but he was stopped in dominant fashion , im not saying there is shame in that because there isnt , but these are the fighters he needs to get past to get to that world title .

I just think Michael is half a level short of these elite's if you want to call them that , would a fresh start acheive that much in bridging that gap at this moment in time , not IMO no !!

Spot on. Katsidis is not on the level of these guys. Yes he is a warrior. Yes he always is in exciting fights. Yes he is willing to fight the best fighters out there. No i would not pick him to beat these A-level fighters imo. I am a fan of his fights but i doubt a change in trainer or tactics would make much difference at this stage in his career.

Fellas ive been saying since the Graham Earl fight that Brendon Smith shouldn't be let anywhere near training a fighter. I mean he takes Katsidis off to thailand to train with muay thai fighters to prepare for elite championship level boxing. What a joke. The gulf in class in terms of technical ability between him and Guererro was massive. I don't think Katsidis will leave Smith, they're close outside the ring but Michael ain't winning no world title with Smith training him.

The trainer situation doesn't help, but it's probably too late in Mick's career that a different trainer wld have any improvement in techinque or style etc.

Kats turns 31yrs this year and if he doesn't retire then bash a few poms up and get a quid over in the old dart i say.

I think Kat has a couple years left and is obviously a completely dedicated fighter that does what is asked of him all the time. If he is going to continue, it's clear that Smith ain't working out and Kats has nothing to lose by trying something else at the tail end of his career. I mean, if he continues anyway, how much can trying something different hurt?

At this stage of his career, Kats' management need to pick opponents that styles are made for Kats. No quick movers or counter punchers. Bring on the Murray's & Kats will shine.

Mick's not a technical fighter to begin with so a more technical trainer isn't going to achieve squat from here on in.

Please refer Floyd Mayweather Snr's boasts about making Ricky Hatton into a skillful boxer when he fought Pacquiao and needless to say, look at the outcome when Ricky threw that game-plan in the bin and went about his traditional means.

Michael is a crude, brute, head first fighter (hence why everyone, including HBO loves him). Nothing or no one's going to change his style at this stage of his career.

Better managing / matchmaking is the only thing that's going to help Mick moving forward.

did anybody else notice that while michael was doing this stalking tactic looking for some opening, that in at least one round he went nearly the first 2 minutes without throwing a single punch ffs.

how ****ing useless is his corner? just disgraceful imo!!!!!!!!!

Ricky Hatton with a superman cape on couldn't beat Pac

Mick needed a technician 5yrs ago it's usless now because he's set in his ways and that works up to a certain point.
