Highlighted - Yeah, like I said in my post to BigBone...I class it as a negative word solely because of how it is used in boxing.

I, and everyone thought Morales was crazy...he proved us wrong.

Yes, I agree that Maidana lost some steam in the mid rounds.

However, instead of believing that he just "must not have prepared" for his first big headliner on an HBO PPV card, I'm gonna go with Erik's thunderous and accurate shots 'prolly had a lil' somethin' to do with it.:yep

And many who were proven wrong hold their OWN wrong pick against Chino, discrediting him and **** when he gave them a great fight, fought his heart out and overcame a lot tougher opponent than expected. You are short too of giving this warrior his props.

Nah...Morales is kind of crazy! Who the **** picks Maidana to be a long time lay off come back opponent?

Who the hell switches their stance in a fight where they have a lead on Pac Man goin' into the 12th round and eat bombs for it??:p

To be honest, I thought he looked poor last night...he either didn't turn up, or didn't train properly. His come back in the last two showed his heart again, but that was partly due to Morales not throwing anything significant back.

Oh, and that last highlighted sentence is spot on, this happens all the time...he was expected to wipe Morales out, didn't...so he was poor.

that's ALL that is. I'd imagine some guys may have lost money here (but seeing the odds, I wouldn't think too many would jump on that one) and the others asses are hurt because they spent days boldly proclaiming how **** would go, and it didn't. How it always is around here.:p

Alright then, please enlighten me on how, against Khan, Maidana took this shot in the opening round:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYFqvXUwVjM[/ame]

And was then, for the next eleven rounds no less, able to relentlessly chase the much more fleet of foot Khan around the ring, all the while taking an awful lot of fast flurries, often with little time in between, before managing to badly rock him late on and continue the ferocious pace for the rest of the fight.

Then, fast forward 4 months, Maidana takes on a man nearly ten years Khan's senior, who is not only fighting two weights higher than he should be, but 3 weight classes higher than that of his prime years. And after a few rounds, Maidana is much more ragged, slower, and noticeably breathing heavier, even to the extent that Erik backs him up at times.

Now, without taking anything away from El Terrible, which I would never do, can you honestly say Maidana was aptly prepared? Certainly not as well prepared as he was for the Khan bout. And before you give me the ''oh I bet you said Erik would get blown out'' nonsense, I actually predicted the fight would last into the championship rounds, as I felt Marcos wasn't the puncher he's cracked up to be.;)

EDIT: Just saw your above post, makes this look pointless now.

Him being unprepared and disinterested in training is just another personal interpretation.

Maidana was coming off a VERY demanding loss to Khan where he took a LOT of punishment and deserved a tune-up, but was offered this fight take it or leave it. And when he wanted to get the best training for this opporunity, just 3 HOURS before camp kicked out Nacho Beristain kicked him out so Maidana ended up with a completely different trainer just weeks before this fight. He also couldn't use punchers gloves according to the contract not to be too strong in there. He was tossed around in this whole process, fought his heart out, got the tight win in a war, yet he's getting a lot of smack. I'm always gonna raise my voice against injustice.

My man, while that's an obviously good and thought out post, there is still no way (!!!) that I can possibly tell you exactly why Maidana had more apparent stamina vs. Khan. Honestly, did you really think I could do anything more than speculate anyhow??

I suppose we may be on a direct path to have to agree to disagree here. AGAIN, you said Morales was backing him up at times because he's so obviously unprepared for his big ass fight on HBO.

Me, I strongly feel that Maidana was backin' up because Morales just blasted his ass, with some technique..power..and accuracy that Maidana must have thought hurt like a sum' *****.

    :good

Like I said, I thought he looked poor. That's my opinion, a lot of the stuff you mentioned may have been a factor.

I'm not saying he looked poor because I can, he just looked poor...it could have been down to the factors you mentioned, or Morales boxing very well at times. I don't believe me calling his performance poor is an injustice really.
