Why are Klitschko undercards so poor?

I agree, they have a very small selection.

 

Because the cards are full of Euro level contenders beating up Euro level sheppards and security guards.

 

At least with that you get Eurolevel pre-fight entertainment:

The Klitschko's undercards are very poor almost every time. They sell out anyways so I guess you can't blame them for not spending more of their profits then they have to, but yeah, the matches on their undercards are poor.

They don't care about the fans, Wlad is actually PLANNING to make the Haye fight as boring as possible.

 

Maybe to fair, K2 is a fairly young promotion company. It began with just Vitali and Wlad when they broke free of Universum in 2004. They've been building their stable steadily since then. Their undercards do leave some to be desired, but they have been able to secure some very popular recording artists to perform live, which lends itself to the German's taste of a night of boxing being more than just some fights. Either way, they can pack anything from a ice arena to a 65K seat soccer stadium within days of tickets being released.

They also put on quite a few cards in their home land, Ukraine that many here would not be aware of. But in this sense, maybe they are giving back to the sport. They are providing the means and opportunity for new talent to come through.

Like it or not, K2 has a successful business model so far and the Klitschkos are securing their financial futures after retirement from inside the ring.

 

They fight on TV for free.... and you complain about the undercards?

 

Well so does Sauerlands fighters (on ARD) and they usually have 1 or 2 decent televised undercard fights + music.

IMO K2 should step up their undercards.

 

How so? They are not fighting on PPV! Hell, must PPV undercards suck horribly... then I can understand complaining. First of all because you are paying good money and deserve more than one decent fight, and second because PPV's bring in much more money and can afford to have great undercards. However, when you have the 2 dominant Heavyweight Champs fighting on free TV... I think you are quite touched in the head if you think it's a bad thing. It would be a bad thing if they only fought on PPV, like so many of the other greedy *******s... you know... the kind that demand 100 mill per fight, and deny fans the fights that they want to see.

Wlad is about to fight David Haye... the biggest heavyweight showdown in about a decade... ON FREE TV... and you complain and say it's bad for boxing because you don't like the undercards?atsch I think that it's fans like you that hurt the sport.

Because to the Germans just going to see the Klitschkos is what they are paying for and so long as they get that they're happy. I went to Wlad/Chambers and the undercard was atrocious and the main even sterile and action free yet the crowd all left happy. The only time I can remember them booing a Klit fight was the recent Vitali/Solis bout because they only got 1 round for their money.

 

The German public isn't aware undercards exist. The main reason people booed Vitali for KO1ing Solis was that 80% of them saw a whole 3 minutes of boxing that night, the other 20% cought an undercard fight or two because of Germans being overly punctual. They simply do not know their ticket includes five, six or more fights but instead you often get to hear "I'd never buy a boxing ticket. The risc of the fight not making it past the first half is too high!!1 I'd rather attend a soccer match which lasts 90mins no matter what".

So yeah, most of them pay 30 up to 500 bucks to watch the main event only and ***** afterwards that it wasn't worth it.

In my opinion RTL will NEVER show undercard bouts, at least not live. Between 8 pm and 10 pm RTL usually televises some stupid Roland Emmerich Michael Bay flick or German Idol or whatever. Not a snowballs chance in hell they would switch that kind of programming to undercard bouts.

Even ARD didn't show Helenius-Peter live. Only tape delayed, after the main event.

 

Because they suck. No one wants to fight on a Klitschko card.
