Don't know how many of you caught the recent David Tua card, but Paz Viejo was on the under card against a fighter with 3 fights, Paz has over 50 fights with 10 wins and 40 odd loses, Im thinking its about time he gave it away, the fight only last a round but have a watch, this is the closest i have seen to a comedy routine in a fight, Paz' "Style" is unique to say the least [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1BBsIkopGw[/ame]
I loved the WWE style comming off the ropes i waswaiting for him to jump up on the ropes or do a sleeper hold
pretty sure i met him. It would have been 2007. Think he was supposed to fight wayne parker jr on the undercard of the oganov fight in townsville in 2007. think it was cancelled because WPJ came in 10kgs over weight or something. anyway this guys name was definitely paz but i cant remember if the surname was the same..... I just looked up paz boxrec page and he has fought WPJ twice so it probably is the same guy.... anyway get this at the oganov fight - which was a farce by the way (not the fight itself but the whole set up) he gets in the ring and did a bit of an interview with the ring announcer guy and basically said the typical **** you know any time any where blah blah blah then he took the microphone and started commentating.... and not for a couple of seconds like mundine or green does.... i mean a couple of fights.... he was rapping and commentating and talking all kinds of **** and the actual commentator guy just gave up and went and sat down. EDIT 2008 not 2007 and that paz guy said he played for the roosters in the NRL... dont know if it was true or not... he was drunk as and pretty full of ****.
For those who don't know, Leti is a samoan who came to NZ a few years back, had an amateur record of 89-8, and is based in vegas now. I think he signed with Pavlik's manager, who has a few other top fighters, one of the larger promoters is involved. They've had him in the gym training for a large part of the past year. I heard he was sparring Maidana before the khan fight. Keep an eye out for him, obviously he can't show much against paz, but he's a legit prospect. Leti had already whooped Paz before heading to the states, and was supposed to fight Ray Musson this time, but musson retired. Sadly Nz boxing will allow paz to fight anyone, he is suspended till september though. I used to think paz was good entertainment who put bums on seats at the club, and once upon a time he actually tried to win, and some of his tricks worked, but I've seen him take some nasty shots lately, it's a sad sight to see his name on a card. He did have a good chin, but even that seems to be gone.
