Delahoya CAN NOT AFFORD to lose to Cotto!!!

Realistically? DLH isnt going much further anyway, so its another payday.

For some boxers it is about money at the end of their career...for some it is for Legacy...plain and simple....Oscar feels his legacy has a taint on it....judging from what I read on these message boards I can see why it nags at him...I think he is going to fight with everything he has left in him to reclaim respect from the boxing community...to think otherwise, is shallow on the fan's part. He is a real warrior like alot of other fighters in the history of boxing....I think he has a big win left in him. I think Cotto will be that big win.

Honestly? I thought the BIG WIN DLH might pull out could be Margarito and it would sure as **** make millions on say Cinco De Mayo:good

 

Cotto will be stronger with each plus pounds he'll get in a catch-weight. Cotto's fight weight these days are almost as high as a middleweight's, so if you are Oscar you shouldn't push for a catch-weight. Cotto is the naturally stronger guy, no doubt. Oscar has to BOX him, not fight. But if Cotto could give Mosley all kind of troubles with his pressure and underrated speed and skills, then Oscar could find himself in a nightmare.

What was a little surprise for me in the Mosley fight that Cotto could bring in the heat against a guy with a pretty good defense and a very good footwork. Now if Oscar stands on his toes like used to in his last couple of fights he will give a target to Cotto. That's not what you want to do. Mosley's granite chin and excellent body helped him to took some huge shots and give some back. But all the shine came after that cut inside Cotto's mouth, until then and at the end Cotto was winning the rounds more comfortably.

We've already seen that Oscar can get knocked down with a headshot and a body blow too. Cotto hits as hard az Hopkins and you cannot fight him on the inside. Miguel is no Mayorga, hits very accurate with huge power. He is too strong IMHO. Oscar's chance is to use the jab but he will still have conditional problems after the 6-7th round. That's the main point, Cotto's pressure after the 6th. Today, after the Miguel-Shane fight, somehow I cannot see Oscar winning. He could give Cotto a close fight and maybe a tight lead up to the 7th but than Miguel will shine. The footwork isn't there, the jab isn't there (too rare), the conditioning is still a problem and Roach's agressive tactics can be desastrous.

I see an UD for Cotto with a close fight until the 7th, maybe both men on the canvas but getting up. If it's a KO, I would bet on a Cotto bodyshot. That't the killer against a fading (in a fight) boxer.

 

It's Cotto who can't afford to lose to DLH.

DLH's name has long been damaged, so what the big deal if he lose again? He's the most HYPED fighter in the modern times of the sport. Yes 5 big loses :yep . . . so what will happen to Cotto's career if he ever lost to DLH?

A DLH fight is just a big money fight for Cotto . . . nothing else to earn in beating a guy who has been beaten 5 times by other big names except money. :good

Id fancy a top conditioned delahoya to beat cotto & it would be a 50 50 fight between oscar & floyd.

Their last fight was too close to call only because delahoya gassed & let floyd take the last 3 possibly 4 rds.

In their prime, mayweather would still be the better p4p boxer but delahoya would win head to head because of his size advantage.

Id like to see the winner of delahoya cotto vs mayweather.... who wouldnt ?

Stylewise, I think floyd beats cotto easier than he beats delahoya but you never know in boxing.

I don't get Oscar. Why does he keep fighting? He's had a great career except recently. He knows his better days are behind him. He gets tagged frequently in the head and body by top tier fighters who are trying to KTFO of him, exposing himself to the possibility of serious damage. He's young & rich, and is still big and influential in the game. Take up golf or tennis, you can still have some competition without risking your health so your kids have to spoon feed you Gerber's 3 times a day.

 

I will go for ODLH in this fight. ODLH by ko 9.

 

Isn't this question asked about nearly every great fighter throughout history. De La Hoya being a 'great fighter' is subjective but I think most would say he was at least a 'very good' fighter and fought everybody. Champions love the limelight, the superstardom, and even if they are already rich, the money. Oscar is the biggest draw and he knows this, plus I know that some part of him wants to retire with a win against a top-notch, prime fighter.
