Are we seriously back on this again? Didn't I comment on a similar thread yesterday?

Anyway 'Latino' is a culture or heritage if you will. It is NOT A RACE!!! There are white, black, indio and melato latinos. Cameron Diaz, JMM, and Sammy Sosa are all Latino. Diaz is white, Marquez is indo and Sosa is black. In the state you guys are so obsesed with race and have to divide everyone up. I can only imagine what label I would be given in the states.

And the 'great white hope' really only refers to anglo white Americians. It was also created by a black American as a way to further racial tensions. From my undestanding, anglo white American's wouldn't consider the K-Bro's white, so they couldn't be great white hopes. Same would go for Martinez, although he is white just like the K-Bros. He just also happens to be Latino (a person of a spanish speaking country, that's what latino means). Very sad situation in my opinion. All white people should ban together and kill all the other inferior races...

    RACE WAR!!!

Dude i know this.... I take census every day at work and unless Latinos specifically say they are Mexican,PR,Salvadorian etc etc we are told to mark them down as white.... Hoops dont understand that most latinos have alot of Spanish blood but are still considered Latinos/Hispanic...

Gamboa is mixed with Mestizo and Black you can tell that by looking at his features although he has black skin... Just look at his family (Dad) all more Latino looking than Black... Hes about 1/2 and1/2.

Most Americans know nothing about race. Latino is a dumb term. Calling Sergio Martinez a "Latino" is about as meaningful as calling Chad Dawson an "Anglo." It ultimatley means nothing. Sergio Martinez is white. Nothing more. Nothing less.

So making comments or classifications based on race or somehow less valid if they occur in soccer? Yeah-- good luck attempting to defend that.

Save the quasi psycho babble for someone else, *******, because that dog won't hunt with me.

But allow me to set you straight. I don't consider myself a fan of Sergio Martinez, nor do I have any desire to "claim" him. Instead, the only reason I even engaged in this **** about him in the first place is because of the staunch resistance-- a resistance born of, let's face it, racialist bias-- by many on here to accept that the man is in fact white. He's athletic, he's slick so he can't be white reflects the attitude behind a good deal of this resistance.

That, and that alone, inspires my posts. Indeed, if he moves up and fights an Andre Ward, for example, I will root for Ward because he's an American.

Put that in your little "Americans are peculiarly obsessed with race over nationality" pipe and smoke it, *******.

As opposed to whom? Spain-- with its legacy of genocide and slavery of the indigenous peoples of the Americas? Or how about England and Portugal, with their legacy of the world's worst slavers? Or how about colonial France, and its legacey of racism and oppression in Indochina? I could go on and on and on.

And you think most North Africans in France have pride in France?? :rofl
