there is every sort of creed and colour over here now so its pretty safe for you to go to ireland, its not like it was 15, 20 years ago, you and your brown skin would blend in quiet nicely over here

    :rofl

To be serious for a second, what chance has boxing got to return as a mainstream sport (given TV exposure again it definitely could) when every ****ing arena show has more violence in the crowd than the ring? I wouldn't take my kid to a big fight night, shame because I'd love to.

  5. really i went to men arena for haye harrison i didnt see any violence ?

Probably because most people were in the bar rather than watching the shitty undercard.

Froch vs Dirrell was the same, good craic down in the bar, then in the arena just before the ringwalks.... off it went.

Do you mean the Rigo fight? There was only some minor skirmishes that night but it was the most intimidating atmosphere Ive ever felt and there was a lot of non-violent behaviour that was a disgrace. The fact that there was 3 armed response units on site probably helped stop any major disturbance although it did seem heavy handed. Those people dont represent Irish boxing fans though, they were Casey fans. I personally will never again atttend a card which features Casey

The Froch-Dirrell aggro seemed to have an element of race - think there was a ****stani lad on the undercard and all the trouble seemed to stem from Forest fans giving them some stick. For me the main issue was locking a bunch of lads in an arena for nigh on 6 hours with nothing to do except for get smashed. There wasn't a smoking area either and provides further examples of Mick Hennessey's inability to put on a show.

As a die-hard Reading fan, I would also like to thank the city of Nottingham for one of the finest days of my life last Saturday.

For the record - I didn't star out the first four letters of ****stani - it happens automatically. Sort of pathetic.

Anyone else go to Froch vs Hague when Forest and Derby had a major off?

I've literally gone to hundreds of GAA matches in Ireland, tens of Ireland soccer games in Dublin and 7 outside Ireland and about a dozen or so boxing shows in Ireland and I've rarely seen trouble and nothing I've seen could be considered serious.

I've seen a few incidents at boxing shows in Dublin and they mostly related to thugs who appeared to know each other and just happened to be in the same place at the same time, none of these types would be travelling to Britain for a fight, you couldn't describe them as genuine fans and even if they did travel- Irish people at a sporting even are usually very quick to let one of their own know that they're acting the ****. unanimous disapproval is always sufficient to get a **** to cop the **** on
