well I was comparing what he could make from both fights, Margo, Pac as opposed to what he could make from Alvarez, Mayweather. No gaurantee he'd make more leaving TR, and if he'd have to buy himself out it would likely be a costly exercise. No point really when he can make as much staying with them, not to mention get a chance to avenge his losses

Cotto vs Mayweather is still an excellent fight today, not as good as in 2008, but still very competitive. Which is the exact reason why this won't happen.

Tune up phhhsssss....no respect for a warrior like Cotto. I'm sure Mayweather still respects his ability as a fighter.

This would be a dream scenario with the winner facing Pac this fall. No way it happens.

JMM was significantly smaller than Floyd. Cotto is bigger than Floyd. Size matters.

No -- you're way, way off here.

Arum is in control of this game -- the fight game -- at this moment. Not Mayweather. And that is because Arum is Pacquiao's promoter.

The reason why Mayweather showed up at the Super Bowl was to try to suck up to Arum. Not the other way around. Arum doesn't need Mayweather at all, and doesn't want to deal with him. That is, he still holds a grudge against Mayweather and isn't looking to help make Mayweather any money. Regardless of Super Bowl photo ops. I'm not saying Arum would never, ever deal with Mayweather, but he's not looking to do so unless it makes a huge amount of sense for Arum.

Besides all this, Arum would not make this fight because it could hurt Pacquiao. Arum wants to squeeze Mayweather out at this time, not build him up. And certainly not build him up with a Top Rank fighter. That's not going to happen. By squeezing Mayweather out, Arum helps Pacquiao. And himself.

Arum is involved in a long-term plan right now with Pacquiao that goes beyond boxing. It's targeted to help Pacquiao make a successful presidential run in the Philippines in the future. Compared with that goal, Mayweather is a blip on the radar; he just doesn't register.

  8. Fck Floyd. Cotto-Margarito 2 would be heaps better.

This would be a good match up, even now. Cotto is not prime, but still has something left. Floyd is not prime either...but, has plenty left. I think Floyd wins this, unless Cotto stops him, which is improbable but not impossible. It would be a great display of textbook boxing though. This would be a big fight, in terms of revenue, as well.

I don't think it would happen unless Cotto leaves TR, though.

Who do think would win if they fought at a catchweight of 145lbs? Cotto or JMM?
