yes i admit, i was watching the Spike Ultimate fighter season finally card....and one of those dudes got Dropped by a freakin jab....i mean his legs went out from under him and he collapsed....FROM A LEFT JAB!!!!!... the aggressor jumped on him and pounded him out, but he really looked like he might have already been out, do those 4 oz gloves make that much of a difference?? or did that dude have a Chinny chin chin??? anyone else see that...its towards the very end of this clip....u cant fast forward if you want... http://www.mmatko.com/richie-hightower-vs-troy-mandaloniz-fight-video-ufc-tuf-6-finale/ Stillafan
Yeah probably a big factor, its crazy cuz he took a beating and ate monster shots...and then ends up practically Kod by a jab of all things!...

Pac was also put down by a measly jab in the lower weights... but that doesnt mean he's chinny. All depends on the circumstances, if he got caught on the right spot on the chin then he goes down, no matter how weak the shot is.
I'll admit I've never taken a shot from a 4 ounce "MMA glove" However, I've been hit by a variety of sparring gloves, and amateur boxing gloves. Also I've been hit by fists without gloves. The difference in, I don't know... FORCE is negligible. IT seems to hurt the skin more, though this makes sense as its more likely to cut! But I honestly don't think someones more likely to be knocked out just because of the MMA gloves. In fact, I think the actual padding on the punching-contact area of the MMA is a little softer than the same area on Everlast gloves, and also I would think Reyes and Grant..... though I've only taken punches with those gloves with head gear on.
He got tagged pretty good, I thought. He walked right into it and on the point of the chin. Never good.
thats what happens when you blow your wad early ...he was so fatigued any the shot was mad that much harder
I think those 4 ounce gloves make a huge difference, you see punches with terrible technique kayoing guys regularly. wide looping shots made chuck liddell's career. what I find interesting with the small gloves is considering how tough the pioneer gloved boxers had to have been fighting with the same size gloves basically. throw in the fact they had better technique and it really says something for some of the reports of 'vicious slugging' those guys had to have been made of granite to take trained powerpunches with those gloves.
Damn........Hightower had **** stamina, he was gassing out within 2 minutes and had nothing really done against him.
Couple of things happened there. He was set up, moving foward with a left hook, he got caught with the jab as he was turning his head with the left hook, so, he got caught on the left side of his chin, going along with the direction he was twisting. So, likely he didn't see the punch comming at all. Couple this, moving foward with the guy throwing the jab stepping in.. Thats a pretty good amount of force.. Think about it. Getting caught off balance, double momentum, exhausted with a shot you didn't expect that lands right on the chin.
Hightower got tagged a number of times in that fight and they guy he was fighting is basically just a power puncher. I don't know if he'd have been so rocked by that punch early on, but then again it was a pretty stiff well placed jab. Fair play to that weird Troy guy for having some snap.
