I know that here on ESB are some pro Boxer or some who know a lil bit about business in Boxing. My question is: How much $ gets a Boxer at the very end, when he paid taxes/promoter/trainer/cutman/sparring partner and what not. What is his actual earning he gets for one fight? Lets say a normaler Boxer with a record 18 wins 6 losses A good Boxer with a record 27 wins 3 losses And Superstar with a record 39 wins 1 losses
I see boxing as running your own business. You can be elite but still not be so great at cutting out good deals for yourself. I had a friend who went pro. He wasn't a high profile amateur. His cutman was only paid $20 for the fight. A multiple golden gloves champ I knew was getting paid $1000 for his first pro fight win or lose. It was a local level fight at a small time casino.
It varies, if that 18-6 boxer is on ESPN2 then may'be about 500 bucks, talking about being a swing bout and it gets on TV to kill time. If you are just fighting at a local show or so with no TV, may'be around 100-200 or so. You definitley don't earn jack if you aren't well know in the Amateurs. Even, then the money isn't that good. (Unless you are a special fighter, like Jose Benavidez and or Frankie Gomez) Gotta have a second job on the side, before you make it big time and start making bigger bucks.
did he had too give up something of those 1000? that is my exakt question. when you get 400 k for example what ortiz basicly made vs berto. what does he keep from those 400 k approximmitly...
I heard it was ~ 40 % total (trainer, cutman, promoter, taxes..) so basicly you get 400 and at the end ~230 k is for your pocket..
How about if an elite fighter earns 1 million for a fight. What does he take home after everyone gets their cut. I am sure an extra tax has to be paid if the sight is in another nation. In addition; Does the fighter pay state sales tax where the fight takes place (domestically of course) or just his state of residence? Which may explain why fighters live in States with low taxes.
With your 18-6 journeyman type it depends A LOT on who you are. For example, you have to pay a Grady Brewer type a hell of a lot more than some guy nobody ever heard of.
You guys must be crazy, I know boxers with losing records that make 3k. When Demetrice King fought David Tua he made 10k and he has a losing record. It all depends on who and where you fight.
I remember Bradley saying on the Max Kellerman radio show he keeps about 60% of his purse after taxes/everyone is paid, which was higher than many.

thank you, thats n good answer, finaly I get a %... thats all I wanted. so, 60 % when you make ~700 k a fight is pretty good money. you make 3 fights a year and you have about 1.1 million in your pocket. better than UFC money all day hahaha....now I can undertand nick diaz why he wants too start boxing. this also shows you how stupid kimbo slice was. he was good puncher and couldn't do **** with his legs or had 0 jiu jiutsu skills and prefered too make it in MMA instead of Boxing, where he would've have earned much more money, because of the hype etc. he had.
one of the reasons I asked my question is because of those corrupt things that happen every day in boxing. if a golf player makes bad $ than I would say, atleast he doesn't get hurt. but a boxer. you make 2 mill, you fight a punching machine in morales, you could end up like gerald mcclellan and at the end business men with low risk take 1.7 mill and give 300 k, can't believe it :fire:twisted:
