ive always invited friends over for the ig fights, even the ones who dont know much about boxing which turns out to be most of the people associate with but the o appreciate the throw back feeling of FIGHT NIGHT with a few brews and whatever else wets your fancy.

however, over the past few years id invite people over to my hosue only to watch a hug fest and have the same people questioning why i watch boxing. Alot of stinkers.

With all that said it seems as though it is not saf again to invite friens over for fights as to how the fights just keep getting better and better and better. Alot of young, hungry fighters not worried about keeping their 0's anmore is putting boxing back on the map.

This has been a great year for boxing so far and it seems like its only getting beteter and bette especially with unification bouts coming up and what not.

    good job boxing. good job

Short term memory. Prior to Donaire/Montiel in late February, 2011 was a continuation of the dreadful 2010. As far as the streak of great fights we are on, I believe it began just this month in April. Also, "young, hungry fighters not worried about keeping their 0's" has nothing to do with it. That statement reeks of hidden agenda. That statement only applies to Berto/Ortiz and Lemieux/Rubio when looking for recent examples.

i think it has everthing to do with it. how often, as boxing fans, do we write off a fighter after 1 loss? how bout that cuban Lara who lost his 0? or Khan who lost his 0? or kirkland who just recently lost his 0. I think fighters are becoming less wary of losing that zero and more wary of just gaining experience. Like the old school fighters used to do it, experience before winning.

and yes, most of the fighters are young and hungry or older and ready (sergio Martinez)

boxing has alot to offer right now

Yeah, but I still wouldnt invite them to see Pac vs Mosley. IMO I would invite them to see something like the bantamweight tournament happening this saturday, usually those fights are overlooked but produce incredible fights.

This weekend is a great example to bring friends over to watch fights....

Yes, the fighters are small, but they are warriors that do not dissapoint. Plus, can explain to friends the dynamics of the matchups, like how this is for the winner of the tourny, who has beaten who, ect, ect.

    :deal

Good thread and thank God that boxing has some very nice momentum right now

Yeah this weekend will be a good one to do that. Last Friday my friends and I enjoyed playing some Texas Hold 'Em while watching some good fights. Def looking forward to the Pacquiao vs Mosley fight and the Klitschko vs Haye fight.

The reason we are getting better fights is because boxing is going through a bit of a transition.

Pacquiao and Mayweather are realistically not far from the end of their roads. New stars are fighting it out to replace them long term.
