I agree, Pac is technically flawed, but who's to say you have to be "technical" to succeed in this sport right? Roy did look unstoppable with the way he ruled in his time, but once his athleticism started to fade, he was a lot easier to deal with. Pac is slower and older now. And i'd still disagree with people saying he hasnt changed as a fighter. I think he is underrated in the defense department. His footwork has improved a lot imo, and it is something that would help him prolong his career. he is using a very basic move which every martial art is teaching, side-stepping. This is highly effective in making your opponents miss or lose power if they somehow hit you. I see Pac retiring soon, and even if he loses at the end of his career due to these flaws, he has already made his place in the sports' history.
Shane is actually still a solid counter puncher. Not on the level of JMM. But Shane was NEVER not even in his prime on JMM's level as a counter puncher. To clarify so you know exactly what I mean. Guys like JMM and Floyd are the type of counter punchers who need very little opening to make you pay. Shane has always been able to counter aggressive fighters. But Floyd and JMM have and had the ability to counter very sharp boxers. Shane is also adept at disrupting the rhythm of volume pressure fighters. So do I think Shane can counter Manny? Sure, especially if Manny is throwing in combination and being very aggressive. And that is what Freddie is trying to prepare Manny for. No matter how confident Roach wants to make you believe he is. Even he doesn't know what happens if Shane lands flush on Manny? Can Manny go punch for punch with Shane? If he can't how does Manny go about winning rounds? Manny doesn't fight well off the back foot. What if Shane can walk thru Manny's Shots? Do you remember how Shane just walked thru Cotto's? Shane wasn't in the best of shape for that fight. He is in good shape for this one. I suspect what will bedevil Shane is his reflexes. He will just be a hair behind too often to take advantage of what Pac is giving him.
Me too. No one wants to be embarrassed.....it isn't fun. I wish I could see his sparring so I could have a better feel. Before his fight with DLH (the first fight), Shane's mom, Bobby Dee invited me to go up to Shane's camp for a few days. I didn't want to bother him because the fight was so huge and I actually turned it down. I just sent some Ring Mags and T Shirts for Shane to sign. And She had them send me back a glove. Now I wish I had the guts to ask to go to Shane's camp. Because I am very interested to see what Shane looks like. Sparring reveals a lot especially if it is intense sparring. Which I hope he is getting. But I don't want to impose at a time that is so freaking important.
Honestly, Pac's only real flaw is his lack of head movement. due to the fact that he has super quick reflexes the rest of his flaws are minimized. Though his style is unorthodox it is eye pleasing and his will to win allows him to do some amazing things in the ring.
Surely, Many has his flaws. He has poor defense, but he uses his speed of punch and footwork as well as his granite chin to offset his flaws.
one pac flaw was he keeps on touching gloves against his opponent and one time roach said stop touching gloves to barrera.
