Agbeko was to stake his IBF bantamweight title against Mares WBC Silver belt in a title unification bout that had raised the stakes for both boxers in what was supposed to be the clash of the best in contemporary bantamweight. But a freak accident at the Los Angeles airport last Monday upon the Ghanaian boxers arrival there has left fight promoters in particular pondering the possibility of cancelling the fight altogether. Sources close to Agbekos camp said he was treated and discharged hours after the door of the car that was to pick him up from the airport inadvertently hit him as one of its occupants opened it, sending the boxer to the floor. The source said Agbekos camp felt he could still go ahead with the fight despite expert advice from doctors."
This fight meant the world to him, if he could fight he would. The doctor wont allow him to and to be honest its better he lives to fight another day. Its unfortunate for him and Mares, but nobody is to blame. I really feel for the guy.
Agbeko would never duck anyone...he has a warrior's mentality and I can guarantee that not being able to fight on saturday is killing him.
