Boxing has been one of the Filipino's favorite sport since time immemorial. And they support their fighters loyally just like mexico and puerto rico.

prior to manny pacquiao, filipino fighters had to first survive the plaster of paris-fisted fighters of thailand. if they can make it alive they can beg someone for an international exposure and if lucky, will earn 20% of the actual pay. but despite of that, filipinos still love the sport. you will see people flock a local bar watching a supposed to be live via satellite feed but with 30-minute commercials in between rounds.

thats true, because in boxing, filipino only need is courage, no high cost of equipment to start with.
hahaha! well there are some:good but we had flash elorde, pancho villa in the earlier days, but i only got to watch Lindol Espinosa, Penalosa bros, Navarette when i was young... frankly i didnt like Manny at first because he was an all out animal with power... only got to appreciate him after he won against Sasakul who was a highly technical fighter in his prime.
Boxbox is right, boxing has always been one of the favorite sports in the Philippines. I remember Luisito Espinosa was huge before Manny. Pinoys also love basketball, billiards and cockfighting. Philippines is obviously trending when it comes to boxing because of Manny no doubt.
