Would it be quite unpopular to state that Hasim Rahman is a legit 2-time heavyweight title holder - that is my opinion. :!: Forget the "lucky punch" that **** was planned & designated!
Yea their 2nd fight was a close fight. Most people dont seem to remember that. Most of the time when boxing fans think of the Pavlik/Taylor rivalry. They only think of Pavliks 7th round stoppage over JT. They dont acknowledge the fact that JT in the rematch,Jermain fought a much better fight and at times outboxed Pavlik . Some people even felt he did enough to beat Pavlik in the rematch. Kieran Mulvaney at ESPN scored the bout 115-113 for Taylor Dan Rafael scored the bout even 114-114. Even the late Vernon Forrest felt Jermain won the rematch. It was a definitely close bout,I felt Pavlik edged it slightly IMO.
Add me to that one, I recall my score being 7-5 or 8-4 for Taylor. Taylor backs up a lot, but he was landing the better shots for most of the fight. Pavlik just seemed to get credit for coming forward. Sure he had Taylor ready to go in the 11th, but that doesn't make up for all the rounds he had lost earlier in the fight.
I used to think the same, now not so. Why do you think he is overrated? Like it or not he is one of the best boxer-punchers we have seen in 10 years or so.
I scored Pavlik/Taylor 3 times, and came up with 3 different scores. 115/113, 116/112, and 117/111, same as the 3 judges. There were some rounds that were damn hard to score. I could certainly understand giving JT a draw. He did not do enough to win.
"Zero gift of gab." Brother, I've said that for ages. Ali took a lot of his schtick from the heel wrestlers of his era, and he was very good at it. Mayweather just absolutely sucks at playing the heel. Listen to someone like prime Ric Flair, who was probably the best heel ever, and compare that to Floyd. PBF comes off as stupid and pathetic.
De La Hoya quit against Hopkins. That body slap didn't even land with the knuckles, it landed with the inside of the glove. There was hardly any type of impact concussion from the punch either.
What? Ya lost me there bro! I don't know how your post relates to anything I said in the post you quoted.:think
