Usually i respect everyones opinions... even this one.

But You dont honestly believe deep down in your heart that Floyd Mayweather will stop Pacquiao ?

I understand wishful thinking and what you would like to happen... But i dont think you honestly believe this would happen.

Comparisons like these make no sense. Mosley and Clottey are different fighters and Floyd and Manny are different fighters, so how many shots Floyd landed on Mosley has absolutely no relevance. Bernstein suggested that there's no way Pac wouldn't land 40% of his punches against Floyd. Well, 20% is substantially less than 40% and that's what he landed against the only defensive fighter he's faced, whose defense is not nearly as good as Floyd's, and who barely threw a punch in reply the whole fight. Manny threw about 750 punches against Cotto. His output likely won't be any more against Floyd than it would be against Cotto and if he were as inaccurate as he was against Clottey, that would equate to 150 shots landed. How probable is this? Well, Shane Mosley landed only 20% of his punches against Floyd. I'm not sure how missing 80% of your shots equates to 'knowing what you're doing'.

*****s - name is fitting (1 fight vs a real WW in years = Shane Mosley. + A week away from being removed from P4P list)

******* - funny if your a Manny fan being he is the fighter of the decade you get abused. It all happened so quick still hard for *****s to understand the greatness and how Pacquiao took over #1 P4P

Now which one of those seems delusional ?

Floyd has beaten fighters who would have beaten Morales under similar circumstances. Mayweather is better than Morales. Pac is pretty much the same guy he was before DLH.

it's not like 80% of Pacquiao's shots were hitting thin air. He was hitting Clottey's guard over and over again, preventing him from doing anything other than cover up for most of the fight. It's a tactical decision, and it worked. Even if those punches on the guard of Clottey count as missed punches in the stats, they are still landing on the guard and preventing Clottey from doing anything other than stay in his shell.

    Your deluded by hero worship.

Floyd "can't" control pac with his style because you "really, really, really" don't want it to happen. I would love to see the "under rated boxer" actually try shifting to boxing mode and make Floyd miss. Pac's only chance in the fight is to throw everything he has at Floyd and hope something slips through and changes the fight. I'm guessing Floyd stands up to it just fine and Pac's stamina begins to look different than in the past around round 7. Pac will either shell up and lose the rest of the rounds or go out on his shield. The only thing Pac can control is if he loses by decision or by KO.

The dude's reasoning and presentation is decent. I can respect the opinion, but I also seriously disagree. It is the typical opinion of a WATCHER who has never Boxed. He makes a ton of miscalculations that are always made by guys who have never Boxed. They don't realize the opponent dynamic of Boxing. What you do/don't do has a lot to do with the man standing in front of you.

Just because you LIKE to throw a lot of punches doesn't mean you CAN. A Swarming Puncher punches a lot because he CAN. A Counter Puncher punches when he SHOULD. Counter punchers shut swarming down by popping the Swarmer and moving. No matter how many punches a Swarmer WANTS to throw he can only throw them if his chin, skin, and opponent facilitates this. So let's explore...

Chin? Manny has a decent chin, but not the best. He gets rocked, but his will to win always keeps him in a fight. His ability to absorb body shots seems to be more telling, but Mayweather is not a ferocious relentless body puncher so it should not factor. Especially after Pac survived that one shot by Margo.

Facilitation? The only way you are getting of ANYTHING more than a 2-3 punch combo is if you can freeze a guy's feet. 8 punch combo against Margo moving forward? Great! 8 punch combo against Mayweather? No chance (unless it is garbage). A Counter Puncher will be the hell out of Dodge as soon as the combo begins to progress. Pop-pop "Nope, I mistimed it. Time to go!"

Skin? Manny's face shreds. Even in fights he wins he looks horrible. Every guy Manny has faced with a DECENT jab has sliced his face up. These are guys that aren't even known for speed! What will happen when he faces a guy with a superior jab, speed, and timing? Manny has a great chance of being stopped on cuts.

Volume? Last thing is, since when has Manny been a Swarmer/Volume puncher? He isn't. He punches a lot when guys are moving forward eating shots. I have yet to see him track a guy down and use pinpoint accuracy and volume to pick him apart. Manny has willing dance partners. When a guy ALWAYS moves forward it is easy to tag him. That is who Manny ALWAYS faces.

When a guy lands two or three good shots and will sit out the round? You are FORCED to come too him and make something happen. If he tags you again? Uh oh, it is even more desperate. Now you are moving forward no matter how tactically reasonable it is. The more of those exchanges you get the worst of? The more desperate the fight becomes. You MUST score and to do so you MUST move forward. Now you are fighting his (Mayweather's) fight.

Manny has no chance but a KO. Period.

Add Al Bernstein to the list of *******S that believe Manny will beat Floyd.

If Castillo can land that many puches on Floyd in his prime when he was much better the best offensive fighter of all time will have no problem and that is why Floyd is not making this fight happen right now.

I agree that his speed and aggression had a lot to do with Clottey's staying in his shell. However by the same token, Clottey staying in his shell made it possible for Manny to be that aggressive.

Manny throws alot of punches per fight but 1200+ for him is atypical. Against a fighter who is more offensive, it would not behoove Manny to throw that many punches which is why he hasn't in any fight I can recall other than Clottey. Floyd is not Clottey. He is far faster, perhaps more accurate, does not stand stationary in a shell defense, is elusive and knows how to control range. Clottey was not even controlling range with the jab. He allowed Manny to rush him with minimal repercussion.

All I'm saying is we've only seen Manny against one fighter who is known to be defensive in his career (at least that I can recall). There is no other barometer by which to measure how he would fare against one of the best defensive fighters of this era, whose opponents continually land less than 25% of their punches against. The Clottey fight showed that Manny's approach to good defense is aggression, and inefficient aggression at that (it may have been somewhat effective vs Clottey, but 20% is certainly not efficient). And when that aggression meets perhaps the best counter punching in the game, that could be his ass.
