    I know I will be accused of being the author. I'm not, but I think it is a good story about Stanley Ketchel. On my own website which isn't a boxing website, I have read that it is. I think it is myself. :thumbsup

    It's a good read. It has no footnotes, but in the back of the book the author thanks the persons who helped him search archives at Grand Rapids, MI Library, Conway, MO Library, and find records, articles, and court house information directly from the ledgers in the "new" Court House in Marshfield, MO along with some references from the "Ozarks Trial" article from an author who was given information from a judge who lived during that time.

    Realy liked Moyle's Langford book and Cavanaughs Tunney book, also two of my favorite fighters. My spanish is good enuf for a Monzon bio if there is one worth reading.

    The Fireside Book of Boxing by W.C.Heinz and Ward has the best compilation of great boxing lore I have ever read. Especially the great chapter of Ruby Bob Fitzimmons,by
    the great American poet and boxing devotee, Edgar Lee Masters, who was at ringside
    from the reign of Bob Fitzimmons to Joe Louis. To read his take on the greatest heavyweight champion he ever saw, will surprise and enlighten you. A MUST READ !

    Adam's Jeffries book is excellent. It kind of rounds out the Corbett/Fitz/Jeffries era ...

    Google "John L. Sullivan and His America ".. if you liked the Robert's books this is excelent in the same way, a study of a man and his impact and influence of his times ... a terrific read ..

    That will be the book where Jeffries said he was drugged for the Johnson fight.:patsch
    Fullerton was primarily a base ball writer, and he did good work there ,including helping to expose the Black Sox Scandal.
    Fullerton wrote his only book on boxing in 1929 .It is a hero worshipping embarrasment.

    Fullerton should have stuck to base ball, imo.

    Years ago, that was the book that got me into studying ol' timey boxing. I should reread it some day.
