yes the show on the 14th and frankie already knows whose top dog between us as i bullied him out of his caravan park
Normally a decent jab will make the difference on these shows. Just keep your chin down and don't panick if you get bum rushed. Just use good straight shots and your footwork to get outta there. Straight shots always seems to fall by the weyside in these novice fights, so just keep it straight and simple. If you get the guy hurt don't rush in and crowd your work, take your time and pick your shots!!! Well done to you for giving it a go. Good luck (and remember to breathe!!!)
It's in the post beforehand there.....remember to breath. It is a shock to the system how gassed you can be when you're not used to it. You will get a newfound respect for anyone who goes 12 rounds.
just do what my old trainer used to do/say in my corner(in a irish accent) "WIDDYWHATTHE****AREYOUDOINGINTHEREKEEPYA****INGHANDSUPANDHITTHE****ERBACKFOR****SSAKE" :bbb as he was saying it,slapping you accross the face at the same time, worked a treat
i said ill come down in a week or two and i still will if the offers open, im training with derry matthews and had training off gary davies aswell, helps having pros as friends though,:good
As above also work on body shots they are never used in White Collar Boxing. Dont be leaning back when your tryin to avoid being hit its something you always see in WCB fighters standing straight up and leaning back its a no no! And dont always be lookin to go toe to toe, stick and move!
Im having my first amateur fight next month too, so good luck to you mate, im just going to laze about listening to music for a few hours and then get ready about an hour before. Im not nervous about getting hurt, but i have friends coming and i dont want to lose in front of them, the way training is going though i feel pretty confident
Neil - do you know yet what time you're on? I fought at the olympia and was on towards the end of the night. It can get cold in those changies mate so take a track suit or a hoody or something to keep on. And enjoy it mate, all the work is done in the gym. On the night you can just go out and enjoy yourself. Only practical advice I'd offer is dont be afraid to get your shots off. In my first fight I was too busy trying to pick the shots and ended up not throwing enough. Usually big gloves in them white collar fights, so just get your shots off and enjoy it. Good luck and sorry I cant make it.
