German boxing

It's the same with Wlad over here. They showed Wlad/Peter II in our local pub cos' he was a possible opponent for Haye.

 

Hi, I german too and you are exactly right. Most of my friends know the Klitschkos and tune in for their fights, but that´s about it. Because of me annoying them about boxing some might know AA and Sturm.

It pisses me off that there might be some all time great fighters around right now (Maywether and Pacman) and hardly anybody knows about them. That´s really sad. Hardly anybody knows Roy Jones Jr. , Bernhard Hopkins, some might remember De la Hoya, because of his fight with Sturm, but have no idea what a star he is or was.

Maywether on germanTV? was it on Eurosport? or some pay-tv?

Regarding the decisions in german boxing, Germany has rightfully earned his bad reputation. Some controversial decisions could be explained with different scoring philosophies (effective, clear punching vs. activity) others were embarrassingly bad.
But bad decisions happen everywhere.

 

With Roy Jones you occasionally get the "oh that was this paper-champion hype-job that was too scared to fight Michalczewski, right?" response...:rofl

The Mayweather - Hatton fight was on RTL, but with no buildup or commercials whatsoever, you had to be very lucky to catch it.

Most of the Lennox Lewis fights were on free TV too iirc, but anything below the Heavyweight-Division was ignored completely.

I remember once watching Barrera - Morales I on DSF following an Ali-documentary (and only bc it was raining in Wimbledon and they had to kill time), but thats about it.
