Tbf to Dan he has said many times that he would love to see Gonzalez fight Segura. The man does follow boxing internationally including in places like Japan. Not sure if he's the right man for the job though. HBO does need a proper boxing person advising them on what fights to make/buy though. That much is obvious.
he likes wrestling.lol. he puts a lot of stuff like that out on his twitter and in his chats. Really entertained by it. I grew out of watching it when I was 15 or so but some of those stunts are kinda cool to watch occasionally.
Fat Dan talks to Richard Schaefer all the time so Schaefer reads his chats and listens to some of the suggestions the fanboys suggest. GBP's undercards have noticeably improved and some of them you can say are because of Schaefer listening to Fat Dan's chats.
Rafaels a joke but he's a fan and knows what the public wants in terms of good fights, he has an ear to the boxing public/fans moreso than most matchmakers I would assume and as a result will press for the fights the fans demand hopefully.
If Dan could somehow keep his weekly chats, then all will be good! All u clowns hating... who better? Sometimes i think peeps get online simply to hate, no matter the cause. The man is well informed in boxing, knows a lot about a **** load of fighters, understands the industry, and has had years of experience having a direct line to a multitude of fans. Once again, whom better to take this job?
well yeah. but u know how it goes. EVERYONE knows better. duh. he's just a fat **** who doesn't know anything obviously. i've always stood up for dan more so than most journalists.
well you are from london so i'll take your opinion with a grain of salt. it's not like haye didn't back out from a klit fight twice already. that's mostly the basis of dan's criticism.
Fantastic news, HBO needs ALL the help they can get. Rafael would at least do a better job then those clowns currently running the show. Those **** wads couldn't even name ten boxers if they tried.
so wait... rejecting martinez vs zbik is bad... but chavez vs zbik is bad also? something i'm missing?
I see alot of people bitching that dan is biased, and he can't score fights. What does that have to do with match making? He's not there to be impartial, or be involved in negotiations, he's there to match make. A ****ing ****** could do a better job then hbo is currently doing.
Even though Rafael should be shot for his scoring of Berto/Ortiz, I have to agree. To everyone saying it's a terrible idea, how can it possibly be worse than what's in place right now? Greenberg and Kerry Davis have done a shameful job throwing away millions in an attempt to artificially craft superstars when they should just let the cream rise to top naturally, like it always does. Credit to HBO for making Bradley/Alexander and Donaire/Montiel. Both fights we the hardcores wanted to see.
I like Dan. Quit bitching about his scoring they are not hiring him to judge fights. If you read his chats on Fridays people ask him about various fights they like to see and honestly he is pretty much on point with what I would like to see. Boxing needs these exciting fights and if somebody he is in tune with the public can help HBO more power to them. Also I am an Victor Ortiz fan and he did score that pretty shitty, but when the match-up was first announced Rafael loved the idea. That turned out pretty good, don't you think?
They rejected Zbik as an opponent for Martinez which effectively forced Martinez to either give up his title or fight off of HBO. And now they're showing the same Zbik against Chavez which is a much worse fight yet it's on HBO.
