"Pros and cons" comes from the latin prefixes pro-whatever and contra-whatever. It mean pluses-and-minuses, the good-points-and-the-bad-points, positive-and-negative.

It doesn't mean that they're perpetrating a con job (hustle / deception). It means that the writer considers the '****-ish tendencies of many of Pac's fans to be a bad thing. He's right.

I know what pros and cons are. The good things about Pac and the bad. Im sayin that, even if his fans are dumb nd ****, that is not a bad thing about Pac.

So if his fans were smart and civil, than that is a pro for Pac? You see wat i mean.

How are Pac's fans nothing to do with Pac? If Pac wasn't around, they (the bandwagoneering 'tards he's talking about) wouldn't be around either.

Some people said the same **** about Hatton's fans (not the same exact criticisms, but similar -- the stupid singing, idiot behaviour etc.). There's no need for panties to get in a twist about it.

I dnt think its right to **** on any fighter because of their fans. Whether it be Mayweather, Pacquiao, RJJ or anybody.

Pretty accurate, IMO. Great fighter, but not w/o his shortcomings...like any other fighter.

Unless there are people out there that really want him to die via Drago to Creed, there's not much of a reason for him to go through a legitimate murderer's row at this point in his career (fights such as Martinez at 160 w/ no catch, etc).

    Two things here:

    * This is, in my opinion, a typical Fight Hype article. Which is to say, try to pull down Pacquiao and indirectly pump Mayweather up (even if Mayweather isn't mentioned, this is, in my opinion, the goal of many Fight Hype pieces)

    * Was this article about Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather? Because it read like something that could have been written about Floyd Mayweather

There's a reason why a particular Floyd fan who does some work around these parts is now on the Fight Hype team. It's like FOX hiring a conservative: The people at Fight Hype seem to know what kind of material they are looking for.

The worst part of this kind of piece is that it tries to dent the reputation of the most important fighter currently in the sport. If you're a fan of the sweet science, I'm not sure that's a good objective.

How are Pac fans "cons" when that is a major key to his success. He is carrying a whole country on his back. He wants to make them proud. That's where his strength is coming from. He doesn't want to disappoint them.

When he fights, the whole country comes to a halt. They don't care about what the others say. For them, Manny is the best. So what?

    Is that a "cons"?

With the exception of Ward and JMM, these are good fighters but laughable as opponents for Pac.

one problem i see here is that number 3 of the pros and number 3 of the cons actually come together.

Pacquiao is not the type of person who will demand an opponent. He knows his place and that is to fight whoever is placed in front of him and entertain the fans to the best of his abilities. the dude is a kind guy. He'll never overrule Bob Arum in choosing an opponent because it is not his nature to do so.
