Morning to everyone after a bad bad night for British boxing yet again, firstly i'd like to congratulate Stephen on getting the nod last night,Swifty came out like thunder and really took the fight to John for the first 2 rounds and looked mighty impressive. The peoples response regarding the result speaks volumes and Stephen and Joes body language said it all both imo knew they got beat. Poor Judging by Big Terry imo very poor, the ref allowed Stephen to grab grab grab all night. My heart went out for Simpson as imo only one fighter wanted to try and fight for 12 rounds Simpson.
I have been inundated with messages from all sorts of boxing people regarding the result which is nice but doesnt change the result.
Anyway Stephen is a nice lad and i wish him well for the future.BN

the ref was a disgrace took simpson to the side and cautioned him about 5 time and never once spoke to smith. something should be done about the ref

Thought Simpson was robbed if i'm honest. The cleaner work throughout came from Simpson. The first round was great and everything but I can't see how Woodhall came up with a 10-8 round for a punch that would barely have garnered a standing count in the ams.

Then to score the last level? It was a clear round for Simpson.

I thought it was a joke, I think Stephen is a very good prospect though and will no doubt go on to achieve great things but last night was an even clearer win for Simpson then the one in Glasgow- which could have gone either way.

John will be back. He's still getting better and just needs to persevere. Maybe Rendall Munroe at Super Bantam??

For me Simpson edged it, the judging was awful, hopefully John wont retire after this farce he deserves better.

I did score the first round 10-8, not because of the one punch but because he had him hurt and it was totally one way traffic.

Don't think it was a robbery last night, it was a close fight that could have gone either way.

O'connors card made a mockery of a great fight!!!

It was a close fight again, very scrappy. Most of the rounds were pretty even.

I gave it to smith by one round. O'connor's card was a joke.

Also Billy I really hope you make a big thing of O'Connor's card and his recent scoring something needs to be done about this bloke

I disagree Uzi. He's EFFECTIVE and CLEVER I'll give him that, but watch jab then he hooks his left hand round the opponent's hip straight away. From a viewing perspective I'd draw the curtains if he was fighting in my garden. Its awful

Billy cheers for coming on here and being so gracious in defeat. It was another close and scrappy in parts battle but I think it was a great battle both seemed to give their all. Its a shame abut O'Connors card because its puts a bad light on a very good event.

You obviously whip Simpson into amazing shape because after the start that Smith made it looked like he had really taken it out of him but he came back so strong and with a smile in the middle rounds.

I hope John sticks around in boxing be it at feather or super bantam because he definitely has plenty of options open to him. I know he probably feels like he has been on the wrong end of decisions but there are definitely still titles and opportunities out there for him.

Edwards was on Simpsons case right from the start and yet Smith was holding as you say on a constant basis, Thought he was pretty lenient on Smith to be honest and unfortunately Billy the fight leaves a bad taste for everyone, O'Connor's card was down right disgraceful and I am not sure where our game goes from this sort of thing, We keep moaning about stuff like this but bugger all ever gets done about it. Several of these referee's/judges are so poor at there jobs.

Trouble is I don't have any confidence in the board to do anything other than a "sanction" similar to IJL in prizefighter. Someone needs to watch these guys and start downgrading them and perhaps give some of the other guys doing the circuits the chance to progress to the top tier.

Howard Foster served his time and now he is a championship ref he continues to impress, I feel he is very fair and calls each action as he see's it, there seems no agenda with Howard, I am concerned that is not the case with all of our officials.

  14. It was a 10-8 round, believe you me.

Still too young to right him off, i respect the fact he's been in with the likes of Simpson twice already. I think there's a lot of scope for improvement.
