Mayweather vs Hatton Thoughts

Floyd beat this guy down! when Ricky couldn't out wrestle him and push him around to set up hid shots, he got KO'd! Howa bout the delayed impact of the power punch that sent Ricky into Zab Judahland!

 

I had Hatton winning two rounds I think.

I thought Floyd was in full control throughout.

 

The most significant thing about the fight was that while Hatton obviously lost, we did see him have a bit of success in troubling Floyd with pressure and was able to dictate the pace of the fight as a result. This was a minor victory in itself as nobody had been able to do it before.

The second most significant thing we saw was Floyd was able to withstand the pressure, win rounds on the backfoot and not get mauled to death by Hatton's inside game.

Admittedly, the ref screwed Hatton by not letting him fight his inside mauling style, but Floyd still kept his cool and won the majority of the rounds while trying to find an answer in a troubling fight.

Like you said, Hatton's "straight in" style and lack of head movement was noticed by Floyd and when he saw an opening, he took it and landed that massive left hook.

As for the ring post, I think Hatton was wobbled by the punch but might have survived if he hadn't eaten the ring post at full speed, but we will never really know.

To summarize. Hatton confirmed what ODLH exposed. Floyd doesn't like pressure. On the flip side, Floyd showed us he is a coolheaded fighter who can adjust on the fly and devise his own Plan B while being attacked.

Ricky shouldn't have taken the loss to heart. It was a competitive fight, but he showed predictability to a world class ring general and got caught. That's the sweet science.

As for Manny vs. Floyd. Thats a totally different type of fight.

Manny is going to have to use lateral movement, angles and pressure to create openings and be ready to jump on them. He can take Floyd's best punch, but he can't eat so many he gets behind on points. He needs to work the jab+stright+move+power shot to test Floyd's chin. Floyd isn't used to getting hit with big shots. Flash knockdowns could be key to racking up points.

Floyd needs to take control of the ring and the tempo and concentrate on a UD or SD win. If Pac can eat punches from Margo, Floyd has zero chance of KO'ing him. Floyd needs to force exchanges, land combos and zip out. Landing significant counter punches will be key for him. He needs to flurry on Pac in the closing of rounds to steal any points he can from judges who are on the fence about how to score.

Stop comparing Manny in Hatton. Hatton knows how to cut off the ring better than Manny does. Also Floyd stood his ground against Hatton because of how Hatton fights.

Manny won't keep the fight in Floyd's chest. If he did, then I guarentee you Manny will get KTFO

 

I also like to note that FLoyd prepared for well for this fight. Getting Carlos Baldomir as a sparring partner to emulate Hatton was brilliant

I think you and me are the only ones that saw that fight as competitve. I had it even through 6. The point deduction was pure bull****, and from there Hatton lost his head. That's also where Floyd stepped on the gas and started landing brutal shots that eventually took Hatton out. And Cortez was awful, he did everything in his power to disrupt Hatton.

I don't think Floyd will ever fight Manny, but if he did I don't see it going down the same. Manny is much more powerful and accurate. Manny has good movement, can jump in and attack and back out before getting countered. He just has more in his arsenal than Hatton. Floyd won't be able to pick him apart like that. Floyd will have to move and use more energy and will get tagged, however I do think Floyd will win a razor thin decision...

And for those who say Floyd won every round in his fight with Hatton, **** off, your clearly hatting.

 

Dude,what planet do you live on? Floyd was never at any time in the least bit of trouble throughout the entire match. He had more trouble finding a parking space that night!
