    The stoppage was perfectly fine.

I have always wondered if the ref would have stopped the fight in the 7th had he seen Larry get up from the KD only to basically fall straight into the cornerpost. Looks like Larry was saved from going back down

But Larry recovered quickly and was back to battering Snipes by the rds conclusion...

Holmes was winning the entire fight up to the knockdown and every minute after it ... he was more off balance than hurt. He has said he was no where near as hurt as he was against Shavers ... Larry did regroup before the count was back on his game right away ...

Great fight. Holmes wasn't that entertaining in his reign but he brought some very good/great fights along the way(Witherspoon, Shavers series, Norton, Cooney,etc.). I think the stoppage was fine and Snipes was overreacting about Holmes. Holmes got up and continued to control the fight whereas Snipes was the one being beaten up without showing much to give the ref a reason to let the fight go on. "It's a championship fight, it's not right! They didn't stop it when he went down! WHY WHY WHY!"lol Snipes was onverreacting and if it meant that much to him he should've got out of the corner and fired back instead of staying in the same place getting pummeled.

"Get off me with that camera im on ABC":rofl Holmes antics before and after fights are certainly legendary as is his career. He is an ATG without hesitation.

I'm not a fan of Holmes(well at least not at the moment lol) but I do appreciate his heart, skills, smarts, and what he's done for this sport and no disrespect to the K bros but I much rather watch Holmes' reign than theirs. Holmes was an aging marvel in the fact that it's odd that he still had good handspeed and timing even at an older age.

Holmes lost his leg speed and movement after age 35, but he kept good hand speed well into his 40s... Holmes was a skilled boxer who counted on his speed, timing and movement.... Plus, he too was a master of the rope-a-dope.....

Well he had Ron Lyle down and Shavers got KO'd...He had Bernardo Mercado down but it was Shavers who got KO'd...He had Holmes Down and it was Shavers who got KO'd..He had Ron Stander hurt but Shavers got KO'd...He had Tex Cobb hurt and Staggered but it was Shavers that got KO'd

I love Earnie and saw many of his fights in person...Ali,Quarry,Ellis, but he had the great right hand and a very good hook just saw him in many fights where he hurt a fighter then fizzled other than the Norton fight he did not show great finishing skills...Ellis was a one punch deal

Well, truth is, Shavers KO'd a lotta' dude's who were "B, C & D" quality.... His only real "A" KO's are over Jimmy Ellis and Kenny Norton...

Still, even a wicked puncher like Shavers can't KO all his foe's....

I care less what some critics have said, but I do contend that the 11th round stoppage in "Holmes-Snipes" was very eerie to the '75 stoppage of "Ali-Lyle."

Regardless of hoopla, both "Lyle & Snipes" were done in them two fights... IMO!

I will say after a recent review of the fight, Snipes regardless of being hammered and school by Holmes on the whole, Snipes still seemed composed all through the fight until he got caught in rd. 11... He was game and showed an eagerness to get at Holmes... Nevertheless, Snipes was being out-classed on the most part....
