HBO and Showtime are PREMIUM cable channels though. My parents sure as hell couldn't afford it when I was growing up and some people still don't have it. CBS is accessible to absolutely everyone. NCAA Basketball and College football has a lot of interest and gets a ton of coverage. Making Boxing available to the same crowds can only be good for up and coming fighters and they will progress to ESPN and even further to HBO/Showtime, with the biggest names being on PPV.

The Superbowl is the biggest show in the world and it isn't PPV. Why are shitty fights on PPV? If boxing is back on tv, PPV will die and everyone will be happy again.

So, this fight isnt actually for free, and will still be shown on premium cable, but it's more like a "special promo" to entice the general public back, to give boxing a second look and hope they'll like it and then maybe get some boxing fights on free tv again?

Mosley is washed up, only the Pac fans will pay to see this fight, since its more of a sacrafice to the alter of Pac than a competitive fight.

yeah it just baffles me how some idiots think this fight will do AT LEAST 1.4 million ppv buys. Neutral fans, *****s and even some of the more knowledgable Pac fans(Ph!lla and Ceasar Borgie) know this won't do more than 1.25 million which was how much the Cotto and Oscar fight did

Basically. The idea is since Showtime and CBS fall under the same parent company, they'll cross promote on CBS and show fight camp 360 episodes on CBS primetime so people can get a lot of exposure. The ultimate goal is to entice back sponsors and get boxing back onto free television again like in the time before PPV and premium cable dominance.

There's no way it'll do 1.4. If you consider the buyrate for Floyd-Mosley, OBVIOUSLY a lot of people saw that fight. They might be convinced that Yea, maybe Mora ran a lot and it's hard to look good against a guy who doesn't want to engage, but people who remember the fight will probably know what's up.

And on the other side of that, it's possible that they'll be watching to see how Manny does comparatively.

Yea this fight is still on PPV, but it is being promoted by CBS. It's important that CBS see this fight do well. It's hard though because HBO/Showtime made advertisers forget about Boxing. They now have to show advertisers that Boxing is a good source for ad revenue. If CBS can do this, then maybe Boxing can be back on national TV like it was when I was a child and that would be friggin awesome.

I find it hard to believe that Superbowl, which is mostly watched by Americans is bigger than the World cup finals (watched by people around the world) and the Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, again seen all over the world plus a few hundred million Chinese people.
