Rate the SMW resumes of these fighters in order of best

Because Kessler is the most legitimate SMW in anyones list and the rest of those guys are all "solid" SMWs.

This is purely at SMW. Andre Ward is undefeated at the weight, a champion, defeated a former unified multi time champion to get his belt.

Jones Jr beat James Toney who is so grossly over-rated it sickens me. Toney was never that great of a fighter, simply had a great match maker, proved time and time again when he stepped in with something more than good.

The rest of Jones Jr's resume at 168 resembles names, but not notable fighters.

4) Bute (deepest resume of the bunch, but best wins are probably Andrade and Bika)
5) Johnson (Only 'good' win is Green, but a lot of close losses to top fighters)
6) Stieglitz (no notable wins other than a robbery against Berrio and maybe Balzsay)

Kessler a better SMW than Toney? Don't be ridiculous. Kessler has what Froch, Beyer and Mundine? That's what you call being far better than Toney's?

Toney beat McCallum, Nunn and Johnson...how is he grossly overrated?

You think Calzaghe is a great fighter, but not Toney? Now that sickens me.

Tell me anyone that Calzaghe beat that even comes close to Nunn or McCallum? 43 year old Bernard Hopkins? Mikkel Kessler? :rofl, Jeff Lacy?:rofl or the '97 version of Eubank.


Actually Michael Nunn and Mike McCallum both have better resumes than Calzaghe as well.

Resume is use to compare x fighter with y fighter, but it's in my view a broken way to do so. At the same time, there's no perfect way to compare fighters. Even after a fight between two fighters sometimes fans and expert do not come at the same conclusion.

I'm not saying that your question is not a good one, but that people should not put too much importance (use only) in a fighter's resume.

 

Johnson who has one performance of any class who loses to bunches upon bunches of average fighters is not a guy you can take as a serious win for Toney because back when Toney beat him, he wasn't half as good as the guy he would later become (Who is still B-grade at best)

Let's face it, you rate Toney higher because he's American and has American names, despite the fact that Toney lost at the weight, never established himself as a true champion at any weight (taking all belts) and had a number of questionable decisions throughout his career.

Calzaghe had 0 questionable decisions, the Hopkins fight is the only one you can even say was close and it wasn't really, due to Hopkins inactivity.

Toney is utter dog **** compared to Calzaghe. As evidenced by his career losses.

 

I'm Canadian actually. The only reason why you like Calzaghe is because you're white.

Reggie Johnson was a really good fighter who only got really outclassed by Roy Jones.


Very razor thin or very very close fights with Jackson, Castro x2 and Toney. Even the Tarver fight was close but thought Tarver deserved it.

 

The reason I like Calzaghe is because he defeated the best of the generation before him in Eubank, the best of his generation in Veit, Mitchell, Woodhall, Hopkins and Reid and the best of the generation after in Kessler and Lacy.

Toney didn't do any of that ****, Toney just got fat.

 

Oh, fat and illegal drugs.
To go with the questionable decisions he was given over several fighters and the fact that he never once beat an elite fighter.

Like it or not, Hopkins was still elite when Calzaghe beat him.
And for all you ****s talking about Eubank being past his best, he was only 32. Didn't stop Joe at 37 beating younger fighters now did it?

 

Hopkins was not elite, he was 43.
