Hit him more than he hits you

A good defense will go a long way. Clottey was half way there, he just forgot the punching part.

Carefully watch what Marquez did the first two times, correct any mistakes that he might of made, and then get in the ring and go to work. Because that's the way Floyd is going to beat him. Doing what Marquez did to the second power.

Marquez lured Pac in, stepped back, and counterpunched in flurries matching Pac punch for punch. Floyd rarely throws combinations. He throws single shots then gets out of the way. It's not a good comparison as Floyd and Marquez are 2 different fighters. Floyd's key to beating Pac is to use his long reach, jab, and right straight, and get away.

The Pacman is the man right now, much improved but some of these comments are nuts.
If Mayweather gets it on with Pac then he will slow the fight to a snails pace and if he does its over. Pac can certainly beat Floyd but I'm saying Mayweather UD until proven otherwise.

I think at welter these guys are too slow

its like what happened when Floyd moved up 5 years ago and fought Baldomir and Gatti and De La Hoya and we said wow this guy is bigger and stronger uh oh

and then they were too slow land their superior fire power

Manny moves up and we are like he struggled vs JMM and in the Barerra rematch and now Cotto Margo and Oscar and Clottey

well those guys were too slow and couldnt touch him or block his punches

Manny and Floyd are so much faster than the other welters

thats why Bradley and Marquez vs Manny interest me because they are fast enough to get to him and are fast enough to get away from him

ultimately from watching footage in preparation for saturday to beat Manny you must:

be out of range Manny is shorter and his jab isnt great back up couter from far away

be inside Manny is smaller tie him up lay on him hit the body his infighting is not great i dont get why nobody ever john ruiz's him lays on him and tires him out your bigger then him use your advantages nobody ever gets inside and just bangs the body

Stay outta no man's land Manny is most dangerous at mid range

    Jab is essential

    Straight right is essential

Uppercut? nobody ever uses this on him Im curious what it would do

South Paw? Whens the last time he fought one may be he has a weakness

Good right hand play, willingness to engage, size, infighting ability, and the power and speed to compete. The speed is the most important thing, if you can't compete with what he brought up from the lower weights you're done for. That's why Martinez is such an interesting prospect for a fight.

Quick straight punches, great boxing skills and defence to beat him. He uses his speed and timing as his assets, opponents don't see the punches coming. He loses to someone like this:-

    1. Someone physically really big and strong who can punch and take his power. This is why he needs to be wary above 154lbs.
    2. Someone with an elite defence and skills and desire and ambition to win.

Mayweather has the best chance in a cagey fight. If either fighter underperforms slightly he could lose.

Ok well you know you have the lowest punch resistance when anytime you get hit you have to hold on for dear life and your knees buckle like a horse and carriage.

Mosley does not have his legs left. And certainly not at 39 when he was out of the ring for the longest period of his life.

When Floyd beats a top Welter convincingly without having to hold on for dear life or touching the canvas I would consider giving him a chance to beat Pac but since there is no track record how can I do that ?

This is why I said correct what ever mistakes Marquez made. The corrections will give you the victory.
