There is talk that Bradley will move up to Welter to fight Pacman for 5mill instead. Nothing stupid about that if it is true.
Does that really matter. If he faced Khan in July he would only fight 1 more time this year anyway. he can fight in September and December. its a non issue. the fight not happening is HBO's fault.
Big difference Rob they had a provisional agreement of it being PPV but it needed a decent undercard. khan did not do everything in their power to provide that undercard because they wouldnt go into their own pocket Matchroom have done what they said they would do do they had big names world title challengers. They have pulled out last minute which happens but there is not a lot Matchroom or Sky can do about it. There are still a few names there and PF can still potentially deliver great scraps without names. its not costing SKY or us anymore money to put on this PF than it would for any other.
That won't happen. The backlash Bradley would get from fans after talking smack about Khan would be big, and Bradley's not the type, although he probably would take the oppurtunity, but I don't think that will happen at all, in the near future. Partly, yes, but he should take what he's getting. Especially since he can't draw ****. Even with the Promotion HBO put into the Bradley-Alexander fight, it's ratings and views were terrible. This is for another topic anyway. Don't want to drown Bunce's thread.
Yeah, I would support that, but first and foremost I want quality assurance about the competitiveness of those title fights. The thing with Prizefighter is that there doesnt have to be names for it to be good, just a decent level of competitiveness. Sometimes having a name like Robin Reid et al can be an anti climax because they are shot. Still, the international Prizefighter sounded like it would be a premium Prizefighter event, but sadly this one has bottomed out....
If he gets the Pac fight, it is a no-brainer, he multiplies his earnings by 4. It would be worse if he sidestepped Khan and fought a 80-20 opponent or worse....
Khan vs McCLoskey had a very good undercard and the fighters pulled out. The biggest name is Mike Perez. Its costing Matchroom allot more money to put it on and thats where the issue will be.
Golden Boy...I will try and beg them next week for something close to the truth. Prizefighter...I reckon that 24 heavyweights were spoken to and said 'yes' in one way or another. Do you think the prize needed to be bigger? Adios.
100% We were promised the best prizefighter ever, big names and egos to match. But simply we have had too many drop outs. More money, and better fighters would have agreed.
For the international version it would make sense to put more money into it. This could be their flagship Prizefighter for Saturday nights and it would help attract better quality opponents. Have the other prizefighters on midweek.
I think so. How much change would a US Heavyweight see out of £32,000 once they have been taxed in the UK, US and pay managment and trainers?
i did wonder bout the prize money, surely with the names they intended to get they should have doubled the prize to £64k
If you want to bring in a couple of bigger names to sell the event, then they might need to look at paying one or two of those guys a retainer to make it worth their while....
This international prizefighter was only testing the water though and if you do 64 k it ends up being 64, 32 16 16 8 8 8 8 Which adds up to 160k + its costing a lot extra to jet people in from across the Atlantic than giving Rocky Fielding a few quid in petrol money. Maybe if it was a proven success then maybe when they start syndicating it to other countries they can a afford a bigger pool/bigger names
