Stating the obvious, pretty much all of the top TOP fighters are extremely skilled at this. It's how they got there.

Aside from the obvious Mayweather reference, I gotta give Sergio Martinez a shout on this. From what I've seen over the past 5-6 years, he's got a great ability to not only adjust in the middle round, but also to adapt his gameplan completely to his opponent. And this is the attribute I like about him most... you never really know what he's gonna do when the bell sounds.

You just listed several fights where Mayweather adjusted. There's only one common factor in all of those fights. What is it? :think

Marquez and Floyd are the best at doing this. Cotto at some points has proven being good at making adjustments in his peak years from his Judah, Mosley, and even Quintana fight where he was successful boxing more and even when he change to southpaw stance.

    Floyd, Hops, Marquez

Glad to see Hopkins does at least get this recognition, considering the ridiculous amount of hate he gets on these forums

age and one or less fight at the weight.

Castillo vs Mayweather was a good example of Floyd in his prime vs a very good fighter conditioned to go 12 full rounds throwing power with both hands.
I would love to see what adjustments he made losing almost every round the second half of the fight ?

You could always show examples of good fighters that are known for ad******g during a fight and being great at it, but also looking bad in a fight or two by not being able to adjust.

For example you could make an argument on how Floyd adjusted in the rematch against Castillo.

Why didn't Marquez adjust in the Floyd fight.

Or why does Hopkins tend to struggle against natural big guys or doesnt win as impressively when he faces them. What are adjustments should he make when he cant bully them down.

There is always examples, goods and bads.

Roach is not in the ring. Unless I am wrong the thread says which fighter makes the best adjustments. is it a crime to speak of the #1 P4P fighter when only a boxing hater would not admit he is one of the best at this today ?

The smaller the brain the more likely one is to even call someone a *******.

What other examples can you name? I'm not particularly attached to my opinion on the matter, but I can't agree with an argument regarding someone's achievements that says 'ignore 99% positive instances of x - it's the 1% negative of x that actually matters'.

    It just smacks of bias.

Omar Narvaez, who I swear if he took on some challenges in his career and if the typical boxing fan gave a **** about any weight below 118 would be talked of among the best around right now.

Hopkins and Ward develop very good strategies and can impliment plan B and C if necessary, they're like infantry executing orders perfectly. Guys like Calzaghe and Marquez can improvise right there in the moment and Calzaghe vs Hopkins showed the limitations of Hopkins adjustment abilities in comparison to Joe's.

Vitali rarely holds, Wlad is the one that does that a lot.
