Disagree. You need to know the people, the personalities, the history and the context. If you don't, you're just another hack.

I think Khan didn't want Ariza for the McCloskey fight as Ariza's programs are very strenuous. Khan couldn't be arsed to put in the work for McCloskey as he did for Maidana, but for his next fight he feels that he needs the extreme conditioning Ariza provides IMO.

Wow. After all the **** that Ariza talked about Khan's team i.e. taxi drivers who take the long way to the airport, stealing documents from his bag etc.

Then there is the issue over the money, i.e. the % from his purse etc.

Roach must have put the foot down and told Khan a few home truths after the McCloskey performance etc...

PS. This story is much more newsworthy that Barker et al, of course it is...

To be honest I don'' think it's much to do about the Mccloskey performance; it's more likely to do with just getting on with it and patching things up; they probably saw a quite a bit of each other as they both work with Roch and Pacquiao and during Pacquiao's recent camp.... So naturally why not patch things up, things were great when they were together too.

I hope roach set amir straight regarding his last performance, which was sloppy to say the least.

What a ****ing embarassment, can't wait to see how Khan tries to bull**** his way out of this one. After all the crap he talked about feeling so much better with the new guy and the problems with Ariza's methods.

on a more general note, it seems like theres alot of fighters these days that cant just have an off night. It was either their trainers fault so they jump ship or the conditioners fault so they sack him.
This seems to happen with fighters that are surrounded by far more "YES" men than people who actually know about the sport ( i.e team khan)

its a shame i really like khan , just think he needs a reality check and get some real management

In newspaper terms - old-style. There is NO way that a conditioner - not even a boxing man - is more newsworthy than an unbeaten European middleweight champion. Online, maybe, but not with ANY sports editors, trust me.

    Adios.

I agree with you but reading the telegraph I get the impression that boxing is not newsworthy unless it is Khan Haye or sometimes Froch. You wont even get a 100 word stub on Darren Barker or European level fight results.
