nathan corbet is rumored to be making the move to boxing 97kg wrecking machine with a concrete chin can fight he is to fit to fast and to deadly for almost all rated in the aussie top ten none would have the guts to face him
Hope he does as well as you think he will, but many kickers have come across with big reputations and failed to make the transition. Without being too negative towards him, take the Preacher as just another recent example. ...and yes many have succeeded too eg JWP, Briggsy etc.
i hope he doesnt go the gurkan ozkan route. I have to say i love corbetts style. theres nothing particularly fancy or flashy about what he does. He doesnt move a muscle he doesnt have to. he just goes out and hits them till they break. Hes fascinating to watch.
the aussie heavyweight scene is mostly talentless hacks which gas after five rounds and even up until then throw very few combination punches corbett would destroy any of the top ten aussies 97kg is plenty heavy when you fight part time fatties who only look for one punch before fatigue sets in
ben will send him back to kickboxingat 97kg he won't stand a chance against leapai, meehan, demori, kirby, edwards, funaki etc he'll even struggle in cruiser against guys like cronje, niemen, forsyth, pitt, vea and the list goes on,stick to your leg kicks.
i reckon Carnage could easily win a national title at CW. he has great hands and a granite chin. he will be one of the few kick fighters that makes the transition i reckon
The guy has good leverage on his punches and elbow strike which are his primary weapon . He can make it in boxing!
Let him get in the boxing mate. They will stop his career for him in cruiser and in the heavies. Carnage is a brilliant kickboxer but he will fail in boxingatschatsch
Hmmm. Ben Edwards and Pieter Cronje, like Carnage, come from kickboxing and Micheal Kirby, up untill recently, was trained by his Brother, a former kickboxer and kickboxing trainer. Adam Watt, Tosca Petridis, Dale Westerman, Sam Sololman, Eddie Delic, Faisal Fayed Danny Green, believe it or not Leo Young Junior's first fights where kickboxing, Darren Zappa, Karim Nashar, Jason Delisle, Danial Dawson and as earlier mentioned JWP and Paul Briggs, to name but a few are boxers originally from kickboxing that have, to varying degrees, been successful and added greatly to Australian boxing. In my opinion carnage would put up a good showing against half the fighters Melboy has listed (more than one of which kickboxed first), wouldn't **** around with half a dozen 'gimme' fights and would add richly to our heavy weight scene, we need more able fighters in all our weight divisions to create a bigger local talent pool if we are to seriously get local boxing back on the map.
its great to see the kids getting on here and throwing in their two bob if you had a knowledge of domestic aussie boxing greater than three years you would realise how redundant your comment is dirtyberry sums this up perfectly know some history kiddo 97 to light you must have some idea about boxing to understand there have been many heavyweight boxers start out in this division at around this weight and have been raging successes
for melbboy just a sprinkling of underweight boxers fighting for world titles at given weight at time of fight you may even know one of them Muhammad Ali 97.5 Joe Frazier 93.2 Evander Holyfield 97.1 Michael Moorer 101.2 Mike Tyson 98.9 ****** Fortune 98.0 Chris Byrd 95.6 James Toney 102.5 Fres Oquendo 99.3 Sultan Ibragimov 99.3
