Did you read any of my comments? i've always said nazim richardson was a world class coach even before the whole margo-mosley fight.

Exactly. Nazim says: "If a bullet misses you by 2 inches, it's just as dangerous as a fly.".

He trained Shane to defend himself against Pac. Yes, he was able to by those occasional right high guard blocks to his face and back pedalling. The problem with that is, it negated the offense that Mosley had resulting to a one sided boring match.

I'm now more convince that Pac will defeat Floyd moreso than before the Mosley fight.

Yeah, he should totally come forward and tell everyone before the fight that Mosley is shot to **** and has zero chance against Pac. He should have urged people not to buy tickets and PPV, but instead he kept blabbing about Mosley's strengths and legendary status.

It almost looked like he WANTED to decieve boxing fans into buying this fight. What a tit.

Anyway, I think Nazim is really overrated. He's not an awful trainer, but if you look at the likes of Mosley and Cunningham, they really don't appear to have improved much at all under his tutelage. In the case of Cunningham, I really think he would excell more under the training of someone like Steward, who could help USS make use of his terrfic physical attributes. This is something that Naz is yet to do.

Looking at Hopkins, Mosley and Cunningham, what exactly has he done to help them? I don't think he's helping Cunningham improve and the same goes for Mosley, who I think could have extended his career with another trainer. Hopkins is the exception, yeah, but he was taught how to box by other guys - Naazim only devised the strategy and it's the strategy that has cost Hopkins in some fights. Given how physically good Hopkins still is, he doesn't need to be involved in these scrappy, boring fights. He could do a Pavlik on everyone out there yet gets into scrappy, ugly fights. I think Naazim does deserve the blame for that.

Of course, if he's winning, it's hard to fault what he's doing. I'm not saying he's a terrible trainer or anything but he's making brilliant boxers fight ugly. Hopkins could be better if he wasn't using the tactics he does, Mosley certainly would be. I think Cunningham could improve too.

The thing is about Naazim, is that he has a weird following. When his fighter wins, he gets a lot of praise but when they lose, it's because the fight is old or whatever. It's a strange one which has probably come out as a result of the way he talks and acts.

nazim is more of a tactician than a teacher, manny steward, freddie roach and ronnie shields are brilliant teachers. According to most of nazims fighters he doesn't teach anything new or correct many mistakes, he tries to work around whats there, creat a gameplan around what a fighter already has.

We always talk about dirty fighters on here, but one thing which is even more frustrating is trainers who teach their fighters to spoil and make it messy. Of the elite crop of trainers around now, Richardson is by far the worst for this. Yeah, he can add a few skills to his fighters repertoire but at what cost? Mosley has gone from an all-action, free throwing puncher to a guy who is overly cautious and willing to spoil at any time. He held excessively even against Margarito, did so against Mayweather and the Mora and Pacquiao fights were poor. I don't think it's just the fact he's coming to the end of his career either. He's still fast and strong, it's just like he's fighting with a more cautious style.

The only other notable fighter Richardson trains doesn't need explaining. Hopkins was a cleaner fighter before Richardson took over as the chief trainer, though.

Every trainer has a style you will see in each fighter to some degree. Roach likes to have his fighters throwing combinations, using angles and so on. Steward likes to avoid in-fighting, using a long jab etc.. If Richardson has a style as a trainer, it's to pass on how to spoil and disrupt a fight to make it ugly.
