Remember that Barrera, Morales and the guy that had the best chance to get it was Marquez at 140lbs all wanted to be the first mexican 4 weight division champ.

Arce just did it last night and beat them to the finish line. :happy

    Super Bantamweight
On May 7, 2011[6] Arce made history by being the first ever Mexican to become a World Champion in four different weight divisions. When he beat a then undefeated [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Boxing_Organisation"]WBO[/ame] [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bantamweight"]Super Bantamweight[/ame] champion, Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. of Puerto Rico.

Doesnt it make you mad how people dont care about Arce Making History but they cared about JMM and Morales Making history? I mean JMM is my Favorite fighter but come on Arce is this the first one they need to give him all the respect in the world. Too many people doubted him

he deserves respect but not in the mold of JMM and Morales.
Arce lost too many fights while being at a world class level

I can see how people will bring the whole interm thing, and that simply doesnt bother me at all to be quite honest. However, what i am more impressed is with the fact that Arce stopped a younger, stronger, undefeated fighter in his natural weight class while Arce was in his FIFTH WEIGHT DIVISION!

Monumental acheivment by Jorge, no matter how you look at it! :happy

Out of left field that one, wow. Interim belts shouldn't count though. Great performance nontheless, I expected Vasquez Jr to beat him up

I am a big fan of Arce, but should he be considered the 1st Mexican to win a title in 4 different divisions? He is a legitimate 3 division champion and he belongs withe the very few such as Chavez, Barrera, Morales, Marquez, but he only held the interim WBA super flyweight title, he never defeated the legit super flyweight champ and as we all know the interim champ is not the real champ of the division. So Arce is a true 3 division champ, but to claim he is a 4 division champ is not accurate

yeah I didn't think Interim titles counted.

**what about minor belts? I thought Arce won a minor belt in batamweight or something

Wikipedia is not the best site for boxing info so copying and pasting from Wikipedia is not such a credible source to quote.

so we counting wbo interim titles now?

3 division champ in my book. 108, 115, and 122.... and the belt at 115 was a vacant title that he never defended. The interim belt he had for a while at 112 shouldn't count. He didn't really beat the champ at 112.

.... but props to Arce, that was a major win for him last night.
