I wasnt impressed by his performance against Lopez but the guy has had a lot of injurys, over a year of inactivity and a stint in rehab. I guess alot depends on where he is mentally. ill give him another few fights before i write him off completely

My opinion only, but I think he's done if he doesn't get the **** out of Youngstown with a new training for training camps. If he did that I think we would see a much sharper Pavlik in the ring. He sure as hell should zip it about calling out the bigger names at 168 right now. He should fire Loew asap, head to Vegas, California or Miami and get to work. He needs at least another tune up or two against mid level opponents before he could even remotely be ready for top SMW's, they've been fighting and training and he has been on a long layoff, you don't just show back up after all that and expect to be on their level. Taking a big fight next would then assure he is done. Bad idea right now.

Agree.......I think he's done too but will give him another chance or two, maybe.

1. Kelly Will never get KO'd

2. Those top tier guys wouldnt play with him

3. he needs to fight again asap to build from this win

4. He showed good defense, was sloppy but did enough to reject some of the combos

I watched the fight again, i do believe he won now and understand the whole "flush Shots" that did damage to lopez compared to the shots lopez hit him with that i was giving him a good score even though they weren't flush but sorta landed..

It was a lot closer though than what the judges scored, a couple of RDs IMO were Even

 

I agree Lopez is a fighter.. Did a great job of keeping pav off balance, but Miranda was more Hype than anything, I like him dont get me wrong but Lopez had better movement And knew not to exchange with Pavlik unlike miranda who tried!

 

Pavlik's not done but he has a lot of work to do. It sucks personal demons have interupted his prime. He has given us some great fights and I hope he can return to top form. The 2 Taylor fights were amazing!

 

I think his less than impressive performance has more to do with ring rust and the fact that kid from cut-n-shoot is a damn good fighter than pav being shot

 

I disagree that we know he is done, but he might be. He should get one more fight, though, before writing him off.

My concern is less with ring rust than with the fact that he never has shown power at his new weightclass. Hopkins lost whatever respect he had for Pavlik's power over the course of that fight, and he failed to dominate Lopez the way he should have. Some guys just don't carry their power north — look how much power Roy Jones lost moving from 168 to 175.

I'll never like his chances against someone like Ward, because on his best day Pavlik would face a severe disadvantage against someone like that.

But if he regains form and proves he does have some pop at 168, I think he could beat Abraham. What he needs now is 1) a better, but not world class opponent and 2) a destructive knockout win.

Pavlik has lost a great deal of his former luster and needs to reestablish his marketability. He could stop Andrade (who's shot) or, as much as I don't care to see him fight, Jeff Lacy. Guys who will stand there and enable Kelly to look good. Putting him against a mover, even a C-grade mover, is a terrible idea.
