Imagine the likes of Ali or Hearns saying they couldn't fight because their feet hurt.

    :rofl

Was it not Manny's leg/calf that was giving him some trouble and Shane's was caused by wearing new boxing shoes (which even novice knows not to do)?

    the real reason is
the guy is 5 months shy of 40 years old....
will someone tell me here on ESB the last welterweight that age who could hang with a top 10 guy much less a pound for pound #1 guy in pac?
prob on these boards is just because shane looks great for 39, aint fat, got his looks...hes 39....and the body does not work the way it used to...they see him as shane from 2000......like a vide game character that has the same stats everytime you use him.....

Shane hurt his feet because the shoes were designed for fighting, not running.

Well, Manny Steward did state that a leg massage hindered Hearns against Hagler.

“I heard Naaz tell Shane, ‘Do not wear those shoes.’

“But Shane wore them and then had problems with his right foot. Something happened in the third round when Pacquiao knocked Shane down,” Glenn said.:patsch

Hey I thought BS when I first read the article also, like here comes the excuses. I dont think it wouldve made any difference at all but he should've known better if he did wear new shoes...

imagine how much running he could have done with better shows....and seriously, i have competed in shoes that weren't broken in yet, and i didnt end up with messy bloody feet
