If Haye ties Wlad up then he's just got a big lump pressing down on his shoulders and tiring him out. That and the jab can really tire/ sicken opponents when it gets to the later rounds.

Hayes sloppy finishing gives Wlad a much bette chance to clinch, which he is good at nowadays.

Where was Haye's will to win against Valuev? The biggest fight of his career (up to the point) and he barely got the nod - he must have known he had to do more to secure a definite win but he didn't up his work rate. I know he had a broken hand... but he could have done more to win rounds a lot clearer IMO.

I can see Haye winning this, but can't see him getting any success to the body.

If Haye was to try and work the body, he'd need to get inside to make that effective - and herein lies the problem.

Getting inside to work the body leaves Haye open, he'll eat some big shots. If Haye manages to get inside, a big if, we all know he'll be looking for the chin.

Bang on Steve, you can't work the body from the outside and getting inside is going to be the big problem.

I think they are. They talk about what he will do to Wlad offensively but what about defensively?

At some point Wlad will surely land with a right hand but nobody seems to be talking about if Haye can take those shots and if he does how he will react. Haye has always been chinny and has been in trouble a good few times. Now he will be coming up against the biggest puncher he's ever faced so it will be interesting to say the least.

Haye is very good at getting the overhand right past a sloppy jab - but instead of giving himself time to get his punches away he just goes into overdrive.... leaving himself wide open.

Look at Froch and Marquez retaining their punching form..... chilling.

    Same here.

I hope he wins, but I just can't see it.

I think it's quite likely that Haye will get through with a good punch or two and shake or hurt Wlad. I'm assuming now that Haye is really going to rise to the occasion.
But Haye hasn't exactly shown great finishing abilities at heavyweight. And when you think of all the advantages Wlad has, the fact that Wlad is a lot better than Valuev, and if we're honest Haye isn't exactly a defensive genius either ..... yeah, I'm puzzled as to how some people see Haye winning with certainty.
It's wishful thinking, and blind faith.

Also, people seem to forget to Haye's loss to Thompson is more recent than Wlad's last defeat.
    Both have improved since 2004.

I dont unestimate wlad,i just dont Over estimate him like many do.

He has been overestimated due to him looking good vs poor opponents.

You could say same for haye, but im not looking at who how well vs who ever, its who has what style and who troubles the other the most?.

Wlad is very effective in what he does, but he is very limited,he wont give you much you wont have expected, the only thing people get shocked by is the numbing power, quick speed for his size and for some the distance kept and range on punches catches them out.

But for combinations, defensive tricks,he does the same things, and doesnt like to be too busy, doesnt like to learn and execute new things like variation of combination or counter punching.

Haye has the speed, power, and tactical smarts to beat wlad.he needs to be sharp with his focus and his relfexes though.

I think haye will be aggresive, but in a smart techincal way,he wont unleash wild shots until he has wlad wobbled.

Yeah, when the best case I can make is a "lucky" (I know, theres no such thing) right hand from the outside over Wlads jab then I'm not exactly filled with confidence.

    (Massive over simplification but...)

Outside the boxing fan community, most Haye fans won't know much about Wlad, and they have probably bought into the marketing hype about Haye, so there is every chance that a lot of Haye fans are definetly over-estimating Haye's chances/Wlad's ability. Amongst boxing fans, not sure really, I honestly think Haye has a decent chance, but Wlad is a clear, but far from overwhelming, favourite.

What cracks me up about Haye is how he talks about his speed and seems to be implying that that makes him a quality boxer who has all this versatility. Haye is fast......at throwing full blooded grenades. There's no snap or technical boxing about him at all, he is a slugger who is fast and powerful, his defence doesn't exist either. People will look at the Valuev fight as a measure of his versatility, well tbh it can definitely be argued he didn't even deserve the decision, and as soon as he reverted to type he did his best work of the whole fight, when he rocked SNV. Anyway, I just wanted to say that, because regardless to that, the fact is I'm thinking he has a good chance against Wlad, it cannot be denied that he has looked very good at hw in almost all of his fights there, fantastic in fact, and exciting, which is a great bonus for us fans. Wlad does hit harder than him and is obviously a better boxer, but it's a styles issue, and these fast heavy handed guys have been his kryptonite in the past. If Haye gets off first all night he will stop Wlad, but will Wlad simply control him and then abuse him physically? I don't know, I can;t wait for this **** anyway, ****ing elated that it's on. I will definitely put a bet on Haye by ko.
