Considering several journalists and commentators indeed gave Valuev 4 rounds or more that suggests, according to your somewhat arrogant opinion, that in fact very few people can score a fight. Here's a link to The Guardian - they have a round by round and also include Steve Bunce's score. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/nov/07/david-haye-nikolai-valuev-title-fight The American commentators only had it for Haye by a round. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb2stt_haye-vs-valuev-part-3_sport The Daily Mail coverage suggested Haye needed the last round to win http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ot...-Haye-beats-Valuev-points-world-champion.html
I had Valuev winning. 115 Valuev - 113 Haye (I can't score rounds for a guy who throws 8 punches and lands 2 a round when the other guy is landing 10 - 15 relatively clean jabs a round)
This fight was hard to score - Valuev surely landed more, but his punches were mostly weak jabs. Haye's punches were cleaner. I thought Valuev won (mainly because I had seen people doing better than Haye against Valuev and these people lost) , but no way I'm going to watch it again to score it properly. I think they both lost.
It was a dog-**** ugly, boring, underwhelming fight, but I really can't see how people score it for Valuev. If you actually look up the scoring criteria for boxing and interpret them correctly, Valuev definitely lost. Or just call rounds 1-11 draws and give Haye the 12th, either way.
I had it 116-112 to Haye. But I was nervous, as I thought it wasnt clear enough to win with Germanys corrupt judging
I think the main thing is that Haye didn't do too much. Other than round 12, David didn't do much more than other fighters such as Holyfield, Bergeron, Donald, Ruiz and a few others who weren't given the decision. So I got to admit initially once David let him off the hook and valuev survived round 12 without going down, I was screaming at the TV because I thought for absolute sure they were going to give the fight to Valuev. So again the question for those of you who feel Haye won by a wide margin, round 12 nothwithstanding, what did Haye do in rounds 1-11 that Holyfied didn't?
Valuev didn't really "win" any rounds. He just sucked less in some. Haye did nothing for the most part as well. What's the maximum for even rounds you can give in a fight?
yeh, i couldnt believe it when Valuev's face accidently collided with Haye's glove, that was really lucky for Haye
jack..i get what ur saying mostly what haye thru landed...but how many punches did he actually throw???i had it haye by a round.2 at a shove
Bunce had Haye ahead 4 rounds. The Guardian journalist is a football journalist. The Dailymail journalist is a football & horse racing journalist. I would be suprised if many papers ever employ actual journalists who are boxing experts to score fights. I'm sure it happens, but not in the two cases you tried to use to support your point. They are from other disciplines who have been farmed into the boxing world for a big fight just to get the story covered. Their scoring is poor and I seriously doubt they could list the real scoring criteria if asked. This fight just highlights how many people don't know how to score a fight as well as they think they do, or let bias get in the way.
