One of the most complete, intelligent fighters right now, but he has no pop, he takes very educated risks, and hes a very rough fighter(some would say dirty). Personally i'm a huge fan of his, the only thing i hold against him is that hes from Oakland being a broncos fan and all.
I remember when Floyd was humble and a great kid, everyone ignored him, Andre needs to change his in ring persona.
Nobody dislikes him but people forget it is not 1950's. Fans pay a lot of money to watch fights these days. Not on free tv with advertisers paying for it the fans do. you gotta please your audience. thats boxing today.
When you are a boxer and not a KO artist, the only way you will generate interest is if people hate you so much they want to see you KO'd (see B-Hop and Floyd Jr.). Ward is gonna have to turn into an arrogant ******* that people hate to hit the next level.
Floyd isnt an ******* and in reality B-Hop isn't an *******, he hates McNabb, but that is the only thing I really see him being out of line on, the rest I chalk up to selling fights.
He's a black American that dominates European fighters. That is pretty much the only reason. He was excellent in the ring tonight.
Ive been a fan since the Olympics. Back when nobody even thought he would win a medal. Huge fan over here.
If you ever misunderstood why HBO, Showtime and other American outlets are dying to find The Next Great American Thing, just remember this post by Michigan Warrior. And the thumbs up on it from Ripper11, etc. Every NBA general manager wants the next Larry Bird, for marketing purposes. The best fighter in the sport, or best two, are non-Americans. There's a void in the market for fans like Michigan Warrior and Ripper11. Smart promoters will exploit that void, and fans who need a Great American Champ will follow along. As much as it may be about who "hates" Andre Ward, it's also about who likes Andre Ward. And why. And how that can be turned into $$$ for the promoters and networks.
