Ifs,Buts, and Maybes. The ward fight was ALMOST a shutout. The Froch fight WAS a shutout.
Wards punche's were bouncing off AA's gloves and arms.
Frochs punches were hitting AA in the same place, but were pysically moving him when they landed.Froch was also able to throw wide looping punches around AA's guard, and he also managed to work AA to the body without hitting below the belt.
Ward was always in control, but most of his punches didn't score, and most of the body shots he threw were low or borderline.
Several times in the Froch fight,it looked as though AA was being completely overwhelmed and could be stopped, whereas Ward was winning rounds with workrate,he never looked like dropping or stopping AA.

What both did was impressive but Froch. Ward put on a clinic and did better than Dirrell but he still lost a few rounds and looked in danger at times taking flush shots for a guy who has "no chin":patsch. Froch never looked in trouble and I would love to rewatch that fight but his screaming lady won't allow me. I liked Ward's performance better but Froch took his soul though I do commend AA for opening up in a very watchable and competitive early fight against Ward.
