i expected abe to lose against ward due to styles but im upset none the less since ive always been a big fan. i love his bone crunching knockouts and hes a funny, nice guy on tv. i live in germany so i get to see more of him than say someone from the us. with that being said: he needs to fire wegner. im not saying hes a bad trainer, but hes not able to take abe to the next level. the first few rounds against ward were very good for abe, and then he stopped, probably because he ran out of gas this early. come on. 3 rounds? also, someone needs to work on those combinations of his and explain to him, that the knockout wont happen when you try for it. just do your thing, if you have power (and his power is evil) you will most often get the knockout, and if not, you should be ahead on points. as a middleweight abe was suprisingly accurate with his punches. they looked wide, but they landed, because they were timed right. plus he would mix in the straight shot every now and then. now he just goes wishy washy with his hooks when hes close, smothering his own punches. i dont think weight is a problem, he was killing himself to get to 160, and demolished miranda and taylor at smw, like theyve never been demolished before. so in closing: i will still remain his fan and watch his fights, but he will be beaten every time if a fighter manages to follow the dirrell/froch/ward blueprint. he needs good matchmaking if he cant ditch wegner. if he can, he needs to work on closing that ***** in his armor, and he will be back to his winning/separating guys from their senses ways. go abe:good
Miranda has never been and will never be any good. Taylor was damaged goods. New trainer and get back to 160 and he could be a champ again. At 168 theres too many that have his number. He will be a top 10 contender at 168, nothing more.
Yeah he got to work that jab. His style of covering up is similar to Winky and Sturm but they were successful cos they work that jab.
actually this advice is spot on. also what the poster below said with winky and felix. abe has a very hard jab and it gets him in range. watch the first knockdown against miranda (yeah has been, but he really ****ed him up and you cant do that if you dont have power, which was my point). jab, straight right, left hook. coming forward is great, but those wishy washy hooks make him look like marco huck, and we all know hes crap. he needs to come forward behind his defense and a jab, and he will **** alot of worlds up. i dont know how rematches against his 3 conquerors would go, but he sure would look alot better and maybe knock 1 or 2 of them out.
To be honest, I don't really believe he will change anything. :-( I feel it will be a sad end of career for AA :twisted:
I think you just have to accept him for what he is. When he steps up to that elite level boxer he will lose 9/10.
On a tread i made aloonge time ago, i wrote about the styles that beats AA's style.. I was refering to Kesslers fights against german boxers, since most german boxers fight like this. Now Kessler never had problems with these figting styles because of his long jabs and 1-2 combos.. He knocked Beyer out in round 3 and Beyer fought like AA did at that time.. Nobody would listen to me, but now the proof is out there, and Mikkel Kessler would problery KO AA...
Beyer is not Abraham and if Abraham would've better stamina and do his "flurry thing" more often Kessler would be in danger of being knocked out and not the other way round. Today's Abraham is done. His style never was different, but his attitude (fighting spirit) and timing.
