This mention of him in MMA has sparked the usual juvenile posting in all the MMA forums, hell i find myself defending him !

He should have just shut the **** up. Everyone knows he will never do MMA seriously but now he has added fuel to all these MMA fans fire !

BTW i am a huge fan of both MMA and Boxing, combat sports in general actually

Well the MMA guys have said a lot of ridiculous stuff about boxing, Mayweather just fired back, nothing wrong with what he did. If he didn't then others would.

Would be big but not as big as a world class boxing event recognized by the entire world. If you go to some places and ask people about UFC they won't even know what it stands for or what it's about. Boxing is a legendary sport, not a sport that started a few years back.

WTF? There is no defense for intermingling here:nono MMA, Dana White, and the like have set the game, ITS WAR!! Is it not ludicrous to think they somehow know more about it? :yep IT IS!!!!!!!

    **** THEM!

Boxing made YOU, Boxing made 100 PLUS YEARS, Boxing is YOUR LIFE and you wanna sell OUT??:-( :-( :-( **** Floyd if he goes that way 4 real!! You seriously cant advocate a traitor and false promoter as th greatest and New Leader?

    Who are you JIm Jones?

    This content is protected

Sorry but Boxing has to do nothing but keep matching up its best in a frequent manner and re-invest more into the amateurs and we will alwyas have a real and large following.

I dont hate MMA or its Athletes but I see ridiculous promotion and extortion against the sport of Boxing as L-U-N-A-C-Y:good

Floyd, I aint a fan but please check yourself before ya wreck yourself. YOu DONT NEED MMA:nono MMA NEEDS YOU!!! If ever there was a time to be EGOTISTICAL?? THIS IS IT!!!

Its the devil enticing him. That damned Dallas Mavericks owner. He is playing Floyd to get his own UFC style fight company on the map. This would be MMA not UFC. Floyd is being set up and that idiot in his ear Ellerbe is just thinking about the dough and not his boxing legacy. Floyd cant change gears this late in the game. NO WAY NO HOW.

I hope that's not the reason. I don't like this whole thing at all. Even if it presents a great challenge, Floyd is much more likely to get whooped in the octagon then a boxing match. I would say Mayweather finally caught the attention of the boxing world after his win of Hatton (You know what I mean, he's a recognized face and PPV star) so I hope he wouldn't throw it away now.

There's no way he would do this. He either has to be:

    a) not doing this

    or

    b) All that talk about "my body breaking down" was complete bull****.

Think about it. MMA is much more brutal than boxing (well, I think; I've only seen commercials for UFC) and will cause more harm to his body than boxing ever has.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but UFC seems like human cockfighting.

Good point. If Mayweather is so worried about his hands, why would he risk being put in an environment where he will be put into arm submissions and wrist locks?

Eh...you're probably right. I don't pretend to know **** about MMA. But what Tencount said about arm submissions and wrist locks seems to say Floyd ain't cut out for MMA.

He would turn rather humble in a hurry.

The mans fairly late in his career, and lacks even the most basic experience in any sort of grappling or kickboxing. He stands a small outside shot of a quick KO if somebody tries to just punch with him, but would never be a dominante force.

I think that Floyd could be awesome in kickboxing but if one of those boys gets him on the ground not so good.
